Default an exercise in self control

so, usually about once a week or so my boss will bring me breakfast to work. today was that day and he brought me a blueberry cake donut from dunkin donuts. it is currently sitting in a bag on my desk. i am not eating it. i think maybe right before the cleaning lady comes to take out my trash, i'll throw it away to destroy all evidence...since i'm too wimpy to just ask him to stop bringing me things. buuuut blueberry cake donuts are definitely my favorite and this is tough. someone talk me down!

Maybe have a bite or two and share the rest with a co-worker?

like the poster above mentioned, maybe you can have a teeny bite & make sure to give the rest away before you eat it to make sure you won't be tempted to eat more? or give it to someone else who would want it. i think you should eventually tell your boss though so that way you won't have that temptation around you & he won't buy something that you won't eat.

That is tough! I would encourage you to ask him to stop doing that because he is doing it to be nice. He probably would hate to know that he is making it difficult for you.

Throw it away now. You can crumple it up in the bag to decrease the temptation and put it in the bottom of the garbage. Good luck!

OMG! That does sound delicious and I LOVE blueberry but it's totally not worth the 340 calories (from what I found online.)

It is really nice of your boss to bring you breakfast once in a while but I wouldn't know how to broach the subject either.

Something that might help you not eat it- let's stay below 199!!!!

you guys are all right, eventually i will stop asking him to bring me breakfast things. i've told him before that i had already eaten and he was just like, "okay well i'm giving it to someone else then...last chance before this donut leaves you...!" so he's really cool about it. but amandie, you're way right. i am staying below 199 whether that donut wants me to or not.

you guys are awesome help

My boss does the same thing, he brings us cookies, muffins, brownies, lasagna, ice cream.........luckily my coworker will take most of it home and I take the lasagna home for my brother.

You can do it!

Currently in the staff room of my university job there is:

- a box of Tim Horton's tim bits
- a tray of banana chocolate chip muffins
- a plate of cheese cubes
- two slices of icing-loaded birthday cake

They also have the coffee maker. I need to fashion a pair of blinders.

I would say don't even take the first bite! One of my coworkers brings a bunch of us breakfast croissants and sausage and cheese biscuits from this pastry shop every saturday morning (they're sooo delicious!!). I've been giving mine away to other people I work with, because I know the second I put it in my mouth to take even one bite I'm a goner.

Definitely let him know, but see if you can give it away first. And if not, toss it discretely.

for interested parties: the coordinates of the donut are in my garbage can, buried underneath misprinted envelopes and water bottles. i won this battle.
