Default ~~June Golden Girls~~

We are about Fitness and Quality of Life after 50...
We are about Fun and Friendship after 50...
We are the Golden Girls...

There is Value in us
There is Power in us
There is Wisdom in us
And Laughter....
We are a rainbow of unique wonders,
There is love in us.
(poem by Dorothy Holmes)

Tell us a little about your life, family and goals. What keeps you motivated? What is the best thing that's happened to you since you passed the 50 mark? 60 mark? 70 mark? Friends laugh, cry and stand by each other, we'll be that to you!

K3...thanks for reminding me, this month just flew by and I didn't realize June was this close. I'm closing the may thread and thought this was too important not to carry over into June.
It's from KarenMo about their son.

We got a call this afternoon from Mike's caseworker in Colorado. He had a seizure on the bus coming home from his Goodwill Day program lasting longer than 6 minutes. He is at the ER and his caseworker is with him. I don't have a whole lot more info. yet but will update you when I do. Please keep him in your prayers.

Just got a call again from the caseworker and they did chest X-rays, and blood levels for his meds and everything has come back fine. Usually after these seizures he is really tired and right now, she said he is laughing and alert. So not for sure what it was but they are getting ready to release him and they are going home to get something to eat!!

Thanks for all your prayers.

Good evening GG’s,

It was a pretty nice day. Well, usually most any day off is a pretty good day.

The sunshine kind of came and went all day. Didn’t accomplish any great things, but did some. Needed to find something in my sewing room. It is such a mess ~ I can’t find anything easily. I had started to work on it (trying to sort, throw, organize stuff) back in January when I had some vacation days. But, I was not able to get it done. The boxes and stuff sat in the hall until I had some more time. Then company was coming, so I put all the stuff back in the sewing room. So, today, once again, I hauled the stuff back out into the hall and hopefully can work on it a little at a time. At least I found what I was looking for.

Maddie and I went to Sara’s office to check out her office ~ she had been relocated. She has been there for a few months, but I hadn’t gotten a chance to check out her new location. We were also delivering a little gifty/surprise for her. She liked it

When we got home, Maddie wanted a snack ~ cheese and crackers. DH wanted her to eat the remainder of her lunch she hadn’t finished earlier. I was in hot water for letting her have the cheese and crackers. Rosey ~ can I borrow your ? I didn’t ignore his request, I just kind of forgot.

Actually even though DH was miffed at me, it turned out a good thing that I had gotten out the crackers for her. We discovered that we had ants in the cupboard where the cereal and crackers are. Had to haul out all that stuff and throw stuff out and wash down the cupboards. Hope they are gone.

I didn’t do so good with my eating today. I had a streak of little flowers in a row over on the challenge thread for each day I didn’t eat sweets or junk. I didn’t do that exactly, but had a couple episodes of mindless munching. There isn’t ½ a flower ~ LOL, so guess I will have to find something else for if I partially mess up. I may have messed up my streak, but I am not giving up ~ can still see how many total days I can rack up of no sweets or junk.

I think stressful things got to me. We found out that the doctors we were going to (part of a whole group of doctors/locations) the outfit is going bankrupt and the place closed down today. So, don’t know if we will still be able to see our same doctors or what will happen now. What a mess. Thankfully I had been able to get my prescriptions renewed and refilled before this happened.

Back to work tomorrow ~ for the one day, then off the weekend ~ yippee.

Hope you all have had a nice day.

Default Hello all.....

Thanks for all the comments on the South Deach Diet. I started it on Monday and now all the cravings seem to have left me - I find that 3 days into trying to lose weight and I "am cactus" and go back to my old eating habits.

My eyes - I have condition called " blethrospasm" this means that the muscles above my eyes are not working therefore my eyes are constantly closed . I have seen a specialist and he is treating it with Botox - my 3rd appointment is nearly due and it has made an appreciable difference.

I will answer everyone later as I have forgotten how you said to do it.

Also how do I make my "signature line" stay there - another thing I am confused about?

Thanks girls from your member in Australia.

Jenye.

Hola, hola, hola, June bugs!!

Lynn - so glad you're feeling better!

CK - so glad Mike is okay! So scary, especially since you're too far away to "be there" for him!

MARY! Mary - you said you'd read 50 Shades of Grey . (I'm finding it fairly tedious, poorly written, and without much redeeming social value... I'm not into potential, um, like, spanking).... Anyway, I thought you might really like this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on3JCwnwHbU I laughed out loud!!

Everyone, Happy June 1st on the morrow. Can you BELIEVE it????? Later, lovelies!

My DH was rushed to emergency with appendicitis this afternoon. He'll have surgery sometime Friday morning. I've been at emergency since 4 pm and just got home at 12:30 am.

Karen31
, glad Mike is doing well.

Long night. Gotta go to bed.

Hi Girls,

Karen31, hoping for the best for your son, and Isabella I hope your DH flies through the surgery - I've had that before and it's no fun... he'll be sore for several weeks. Hope he's a good patient ;-)

Glynne - I hate ants in the house, they're so hard to get rid of!

I've been doing fairly well with eating and exercising and have lost a few more pounds, but I really have to stick with it every single day. They're having pizza for lunch at work today and that's one of my trigger foods. I'm hoping to just have one slice with the huge salad I brought.

Looking forward to the weekend! DBF and I are going to a big Strawberry Festival tomorrow and it should be fun if I can resist all that festival food!

Hello to everyone and have a great weekend!

Andi

Hello ladies..

Karen I'm sending prayers your way.

Gayle. We all have days where we don't do so good but glad to hear that you are still trying. When have those bad days I always say " the devil is after me"!!! I always tell my dh I can't look left or right and will not look back. Only forwards.

Jenny good luck with your eyes.

Isabella. Im praying for your husband to have a speedy recovery. I'll throw in a prayer for you to be able to stay on your diet plan. It's so hard when you have someone in the hospital.

Good Morning GG's

We're finally getting some much needed rain. Things had started to get really dry, even the lawn was getting dry patches, and it's much too early in the year for that. The new washer is being delivered this afternoon. They give you a 4 hour period, which means that I have to stay home all evening. Hope it's not too late to get some laundry done today. I was afraid to use the old one any more, it was leaking so badly.

Karen, I'm glad your son is doing better. I know it must be hard for you and DH not being there.

Isabella, Hope DH got through his surgery and is doing well.

Andi, Congrats on losing. Glad to see you are continuing with the exercise. I really believe that is key to success. Good luck on that festival food. I'm good around most of it, but I have to admit I like the elephant ears. And that is just a piece of fried dough with sugar and about a million calories.

Lynn, Glad to hear that you are feeling better.

Donna, I'm glad someone agrees with me about Fifty Shades of Grey. I think it's just junk. Poorly written just for shock value. I loved the video of Ellen reading it.

Jayne, I'm happy to hear that you got a name for the condition on your eyes. It's always easier to deal with the know. Botox treatmens are being used for so much anymore. Did you get them in your forhead too, to ease the wrinkles? Just in case they have a little extra in the needle after doing your eyes? Wouldn't want to waste it. I've never had botox. Actually had a chance once to get it for free. Our PA's daughter was a plastic surgeon and wanted to practice with it. A few of the ladies did go.

Gayle, I know you will get back to getting those flowers. One little slip up doesn't count, and sounds like it wasn't much of a slip any way. One thing that I think helps me getting things organized is to do it in small amounts of time. I set the alarm for 15 min and work. It's amazing how much you can get done. I think the problem is seeing the big picture.

Cajunlady, we were posting at the same time. I agree about the Devil. You have to just take one day at a time and not get stuck looking back.

Have a good day ladies.

Freda

Quick drive by this morning...
Hola, All!

Freda - I always love to hear from you! How's your back? I'm glad you enjoyed the Ellen clip... her eyes are so expressive, and she makes me laugh!! I'm about 1/2 way through the book... so far, I have no interest in joining!

Isabella - hope your DH is okay. Good thoughts!

Rosey - doing okay?

KarenFL - all dried out from Beryl?

Rie, Marie, Lynn, CK, Newbies
, everyone... hope your day is a good one! Later, lovelies!
