Default Sugar Withdrawals and Sweet Teeth!

Hey All,
I am nearing the end of my pre-conditioning week and felt like I was having major sugar withdrawals. I was shakey and couldn't concentrate! My biggest vice is sweets (baked goods galore...) and carbs and I was wondering if anybody here has dealt with this and did it last a long time? And when you get a major sugar craving, what are some items that are on plan that seem to work for you?

Thanks!
Brandis

Hey!

Yep - sugar and carb withdrawals are not fun... It will get easier as your body adjusts to your new way of eating. (Although I sometimes still will crave sugar - but I know if I indulge, it's a slippery slope and I cannot stop!)

Also, it could be your body adjusting to caffeine withdrawal. Just hang in there.

For me, it helped to have something to keep my mind occupied... I'd get on here and look at this board, go for a walk/elliptical, read, take a bubble bath or relax on my porch with a book... Also, the cravings seemed MUCH worse when I wasn't drinking enough water and getting rest. Make sure you are drinking something throughout the day to avoid dehydration and hunger/cravings...

Good luck and we're here if you need us!

Thanks so much for the advice! I will try gulping water and see if that helps. I wanted so badly to have just one taste of chocolate yesterday and I was telling my boss who has succesfully who has done the program (lost 50 pounds and kept it all off) she said just remember, nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels.

Thanks again!

What I'm doing is having Atkins chocolate bars, which are low carb, low sugar and high protein and I have them as a snack. Also I'm having diet drinks, either Coke Zero or diet cordials. I also have sugar free candy and that takes care of any cravings. I don't have these things all the time, but they are there so I don't go for any real sugar or carbs.

Anyone interested in the Atkins chocolate bars or vitamins at discounted prices around 35% off or more send me a PM and I might be able to help you out.
Just add me as a buddy and then open your buddy list under quick links and PM me from there.

you can blend your HNSs w/ diet soda and ice and put in blender. the only reason i stuck to this diet is because i need my dessert fix! -) Diet Lemon lime soda is great mixed w/ the lemon HNS. i only drink Syntrax nectars ( i have Roadside Lemonade, Chocolate Truffle and Vanilla Bean Torte (from Diet Direct) *i use these for my HNSs since they are 23 Protein, 0 fat, 0 carbs and 70 cal. (3/4 cup) i mix the chocolate w/ diet dr. pepper - tastes just like a icecream float. i'll mix the Chocolate w/ Greek yogurt - tastes like Choc. cheese cake, the vanilla goes great w/ frozen fruit (strawberries are my favorite!) there are so many combos...i love it!
it's not on the plan, but i fix SF FF jello all the time - it's 10 calories and doesnt cause a gain.
look on this board for food recommendations... these girls Rock! and give fantastic advice. could not have done this at all without their support and motivational tips. they'll even tell me, step away from the candy!!! and i listen. i'll start making excuses and then tell myself? Really? LISTEN to the ladies on this forum - they will guide you in the right direction

Like Bigdog, I drink the Syntrax now...and I especially am liking the Latte flavor because I will mix it with a "Skinny" syrup I found...they have no calories, no sodium, no fat/carbs...NOTHING at all and are great! I have Hazelnut, Carmel, and English toffee right now. When I have an HNS?? I feel like I am having dessert!

I like the idea of Diet Dr. Pepper with the Chocolate Truffle...I will have to try that one for sure!

Best of luck to you..I diddo what everyone has said. This forum is wonderful in many ways...and we are all here for eachother

The brand is "Jordan's Skinny Gourmet Syrups." I just happened upon them at Ross one day...don't know where normally sold...but they are great!

Thanks for sharing all of the shake ideas! Yum!
