Default lose 50lbs by my 24th birthday! I can do it!

I turn 24 in August and since I was little, I always thought that if I could be any age, 24 is the perfect age to be. Here I am only a few months away and I want to make 24 my best year ever and I sure as heck don't want to be overweight. I always lose weight and gain it back, but this time, this is it. I will lose the weight forever and not let it control me anymore. I have 4 months to go and in those 4 months I expect to lose 50lbs. I will be 135lbs which still isn't my ideal weight, but I haven't been that weight since high school and I know being that weight again will make me more content. I can and will do it!

WOW! That's a big goal to meet! Good for you! Even if you had a weight loss goal of 2 and a half pounds a week....it would still be a VERY substantial loss!!! Best of luck to you!!! Keep your progress posted on this thread--would LOVE to hear how you are doing along the way!

I know it is, but i'm nothing if not optimistic. This is going to take some serious dedication though. I'll make sure to post my progress

Good luck to you as well

Today we had a going away lunch party for a co-worker and we went to a restaurant that set-up a buffet for us. I ate some rice, but mostly my plate was full of vegetables and salad. One of my co-workers commented on how little I ate and I played it off by saying no I have everything you had except for this and that and he eventually let it go.

How do you guys handle being on a diet and someone commenting on your food habits when you eat out?

I'd ignore the comments. Truthfully, not many people know what is "normal" eating and whenever you start eating less than what you usually ate, alarms go off and people get concerned.

As you keep going, the comments will stop eventually. I usually just say "Yes it may look like I'm eating a little but I have it all under control. Thanks for your concern." If they persist on commenting, I get b!tchy and shut them down, but that's just me!

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

I have this one friend who is severely overweight, but isn't doing anything about it. She smokes too. She's a great friend so I don't comment on any of her bad habits. However, when we go out to eat, she always tries to get me to eat more because I feel like she doesn't want to eat a lot more than I do, but at the same time wants to eat a lot (which is fine by me, I just don't want her to pressure me into it as well). I've started to eat super slow around her, that way I can finish my portion at the same time she finishes hers without her pressuring me to eat more.

Other than that my diet is going well, already down to 181 from 187 and though it's only a few pounds, I already feel great

Hey! I'm the same age as well, my goal is by August 1st to lose 14-16 lbs. I didn't meet my initial goal, but I still lost a chunk of weight - so even you don't quite make it, any progress is awesome! I find that at least having some sort of flexible goal gives me that little extra boost to keep going!

I will be 24 my next birthday as well. When I first thought about goals I wanted to lose 100-120 by my next birthday which is next February. It would be great if I make that goal but I'm not going to be disappointed if I don't. This is gonna be a long journey and I want to keep this weight off for good.

Why be ashamed of eating well? When someone pokes fun at my crazy eating, I simply tell them that I like to eat healthy. If anything, it makes them think twice about what they're eating.

My 30th birthday is August 29th and I also have some goals set for that! Good for you! No matter how much you lose of that 50, or if you lose it all!!! it will be great!

Thanks! You guys are all really encouraging.

Yeah I set that goal mainly just to have one, I feel like it will at least get me started in the weight loss process, which it has.

This is so weird! I just turned 24 on May 17th and my first goal was made for my 24th birthday! I wanted to be below 200lbs and I met the goal! I weighed 199.2 on my birthday. So if I can do it, you can too! Good luck and def keep us posted on how things are going! About the other people commenting on what you eat, my boyfriend does the same thing. He tells me I'm not eating enough but I know I am. I calorie count and I alot myself what I can eat. I just tell him I'm full and I don't want anything else. You know what's best for you, and only you know your body! Don't worry about them!
