Question Lipitor anyone?

Are any IP users on Lipitor? ....or started out on Lipitor? I want to try this IP diet but just started taking the statin and need to know if it has adverse effects or reactions--Thanks!

In July, my Doc wanted to put me on a statin. He wrote the Rx. I threw it away before I left the office. Cholest was 289. In Sept I started IP. In Dec I went back for blood work. He came in the room, sat down and said "WOW, those meds are really working! Your cholest is down to 169." I told him that I wasn't taking any meds for cholest. Or blood sugar. He was puzzled. HOW can that be? Well, Doc, I've lost 43 pounds and I stopped eating crap. He said, well keep it up. Patted me on my knee and that was it. Never asked WHAT program I was on. ****, I could have been eating just lettuce and taking speed - he didn't know.

That's me. I've never been one to follow directions. I knew WHY my numbers were so bad - I was being immature and juvenile when it came to what I ate and I put myself in danger of all kinds of health problems.

You have a different doc and different body chemistry. You need to do what's right for you.

Simvastatin and no side effects. The sad news is I got my bloodwork done after IP and I have to stay on the statin. Eating right and exercising isn't enough in my case.

I was on Lipitor. Did not agree with me and I gave it up when starting IP. Just had labwork last week. My ratios were in normal range and total cholesterol 122! Better than I ever had on the Lipitor. I feel lucky IP worked so well.

Got off the yucky diabetes meds too. Non-fasting BS was 99 the other day.

40 mg lipitor here. Lost 50 lbs on IP and cut the meds in half. Even better my good cholesterol went up to 44 since being on IP. It had been 24 before IP.

Can't wait to have my bloodwork done again to see where I am with cholesterol (LDL, HDL) and triglycerides..... I've been thinking about this more recently because the closer I get to retirement (few years to go yet), the closer I am to no longer having health insurance to cover my meds. Getting off of as many meds as possible would be the best solution!
