Hi all!! Since we have been talking about books so much, I thought you might be interested in a new book for sale called Chunk to Hunk. Depending how long you have been with 3FC, we used to have a member named Fred Anderson. He lost an amazing amount of weight (170 lbs) and did it the healthy way by changing his diet and exercise. He used to have a ton of info on how he did it on his website www.onefatman.com. He still has some, but not the detail he used to. ANYWAY. He has written a book called From Chunk to Hunk: Diary of a Fat Man. It is currently only available for sale through his website @ http://www.chunktohunk.com.
so i'm reading fred's book, chunk to hunk, right now.
i'm really loving it. it's SO insightful. i'm still in the first half, where he's lost about 100 lbs but is still a pretty overweight guy. he's just got all these ideas about attitude that i really need to embrace.
for one, he constantly envisions himself as ALREADY being at goal, and acts accordingly. like, he eats well and exercises hard to maintain his healthy and fit body. he really loves himself, there's none of that self-hate that i find in so many diet journals (and see in myself sometimes, too).
he's real. for a while there, i felt like he was TOO perfect, that no one is totally immune to cravings. and just as i thought that, his cravings came up to bite him in the ***.
but really, he's crazy. he's able to dish out the wise, sage-like advice that should come from getting to goal and staying there, BEFORE he's lost all the weight! simply because he already sees himself as that person. it's an eye-opener and a thought-provoker.
as if you couldn't tell, i highly reccommend it. ;P
I just got my copy yesterday. I've been following his site all along so a lot of the stuff I've already read. I'm going to read it through cover to cover but right now I'm just rereading my favourite journal entries.
Did you get your copy autographed Holly?
I think it will sell very well eventually and we'll be seeing the Anderson family on Oprah soon!

i TOTALLY think he'll be on Oprah. H's awesome. I read Robyn's site all the time now, but i started my weightloss just as Fred was taking his stuff down for the book.
finished it today. my comments are that i'm not completely changing my plan because of his insights, (don't fix it if it ain't broke, right?) but i am going to keep things in mind.
i am going to visualize the healthier, fitter me and live like her. i am going to feed her more natural, unprocessed foods. i am going to workout a little more regularly. but i'm still going to count calories.
