Default Meal Replacement Bars

How does that work? Has anyone tried them? How do they taste?

Fixing lunch every day is kind of a pain in the butt, and if I could just do these it might save some time/money (no need to pay for food and a HNS). But I just want some other opinions, maybe from people who have experience with them.

Thanks!

P.S. Down half a pound at my weigh in yesterday. Not to bad for having an off program night on Tuesday.

I love them, however, there are some things to be aware of if you choose to eat them at lunch. You are only allowed 3 bars per week. If you eat them at lunch, you still need to eat a vegetable with them and drink a clear HNS. Also, you aren't allowed to have a creamy HNS on the same day.

One other side effect, they can cause...ahem...constipation which is why many of us try to limit them.

Ahh yes, good things to be aware of. I just heard about them really yesterday when I went it for my weigh in. We told my counselor I might have to go out of town for a funeral and she suggested I take some so I would not have to be off plan. Which to me seems kind of silly that you eat that, and have a shake, and have a veggie. Kind of a "well whats the point". What they told me was somewhat misleading.

But thanks though, I do appreciate the input!

The bars only replace the starch/fruit and protein. If I'm on the got and do not have time to eat anything else at lunch then I use it. I normally only use it at breakfast and then it is a total meal replacement.

I like the bars - cereal and double chocolate wafer are my favorites. But I agree, I only use them rarely, usually when I don't have time to make breakfast or lunch... they are handy to have around in that case.

I also do a total meal replacement, but grab some celery or broccoli or a tomato if I'm hungry. One thing I don't like is not having a creamy on the samy day... I love the hot chocolate or cappuccino when it's cold out... makes a nice bedtime/evening drink!

Total Mael Replacement? What is that? Sorry, I know I probably have this information written down at home in a pamplet or something, but I am at work. And after the 3rd day of tuna I am just kind of going Blah!

Be sure you are only having a shake OR a bar...not both for one meal A bar for breakfast or lunch only...OR a shake for breakfast, lunch or dinner. One per day...can't have a shake for each meal. The bars are lower calorie, which is why you can add a veggie to it if you have one at lunchtime. Nothing is added when you have a shake. Hope this helps!

I don't mean a shake...um, those HNS drink mixes. like the hot coco (great for after dinner) or the grape juice flavor, stuff like that.

Like I was saying I have not heard anything about the shakes, I generally shake up the powdered supplements in the shaker thingy which is probably why I called it that.

I personally was starving if I used it as a meal replacement. I could get away with it for lunch, but if I did it at noon I was starving. They are super yummy though.

Oh! Yes, have those every meal regardless of a meal replacement.

Agree with Gina! Those bars do taste great but they are not enough for a real meal. Also, for me they set off cravings. They are too much like a candy bar. I have tried several times and each time I can't keep out of the box. I'm thinking maybe in maintenance. Be careful!

I'm using the protein bars more as a small treat instead of meal replacement. I divide them into 4 servings in sandwich bags and put in fridge I'm doing more of the HNSs per day and trying to limit protein bars to quarter portion after dinner.

See the Hot Coco is my after dinner treat. One of the problems I had with losing weight before this was that I had to have coco every night, I get so stressed out that it was just kind of a comfort drink to relax and unwind. Unfortunaly my husband (I love him, I do, he has lost 3 pounds more than me in the last 2 weeks, grrrr) when he would make it for me he would always top it with whipped cream or marshmallows, or a couple of times he would toast a big marshmallow and put it on the whipped cream. Now, I am spoiled, I fully admit this, but that was always a bit much....I got completely lost there on the point.

Anyway, yes, the coco is great and helps me keep from going off program. Just a nice little bit of chocolate at the end of a stressful day.
