Good Morning Everyone,

Its sooo hot and humid here....sticky icky, BUT I'm not complaining, I'd take this over that aweful winter we just had.

Nothing much new here SOSDD... so far so good w/atkins, and hubby's starting to get the swing of it, I know he will do good, men always do. I got my period the same time I started this so I think I'm gonna wait until my 2nd week is over and then I'll weigh myself. I'm not up for dissapointments now, and I know its only because of my "friend."

Keather, its so nice to see you. I feel bad that you are still crying for your soon to be EX but honestly thats they only way to get it out of our system. When you can't sleep, you should come here to 3FC's and start a journal, write your thoughts down, etc... I know it helps for some folks to do that

Linny, get your @$$ in here and say hello, we all miss you and where's your sidekick Sweetpea ??? Out of site out of mind yes but that doesn't mean we don't miss you or love you.

Kem, Liz, Tippy, April, Cin, Cathy, Linny, Sweet
Judo, Laura, Anna, Jen

Check in later.....

HUGS & KISSES, Leenie

Default Good Morning Chickies!

Well Good Morning Leenie! I went and read your food journals on the Low Carb Board - looks great to me! You go girl!

I miss LindaT and Sweetpea too! wish we would hear a little something from them. I did get a nice email from Sweetpea the other night and it was good to hear from her.

My grandmother had to have another surgery yesterday, and my aunt is going out of town, so I will be extra busy for the next week helping my mom out more at the hospital, but I will pop in when I have a minute at work.

Keather, it's nice to meet you. I'm so sorry for the struggles in your life!

I need my coffee. Gonna go grab it and check back later.

hugs,
Cathy

I can't breath!! It is so humid outside today it is impossible to take a good breath. I really feel for people who have to work outside in this.

The big man will be leaving in a few hours. I will be on this site until he gets back next week. It will be very nice to have to place to myself.

My hats off to you Leen for doing ATkins. That was so stirck I couldn't do it. I am on day 3 of Body Rx and it seems to be working pretty well. I really love that I can eat fruit and lots of it. I have such a sweet tooth without fruit I would be done for.

Hello to all who come behind me.

Good morning everyone

It is a beautiful day here....not too hot....just right. Leenie & Kemp....we don't have the humidity like you do....thank goodness....our humidity is usually under 40%.

DH & I were up early....we went to a birthday breakfast for a friend....it was my turn to get the present....I made her a scarf made out of this yarn called Eyelash...really soft....a very different type of yarn.

Kemp.....it has been 6 days since I went off the Effexor....so far no dizzy spells...but a few times I felt different or wierd...don't know how to explain it. I have been irritable & weepy....but not too much. I notice that at night my legs feel very warm after I go to bed.
The biggest difference is not sleeping in the afternoon now & waking up earlier....while on the med....most days....would have a 2 hour nap. Another thing I noticed...is that I have trouble going to sleep at night now.

When I was on the Effexor....I was sleeping more....like 4 to 5 hours longer....between getting up about 2 hours later in the morning & all the naps in the daytime. Could all this extra sleeping....have brought on some of the 15 pound weight gain over the fall & winter.....or was it the Effexor?

Since going off the Effexor last week....I have lost 3.8 lbs.!!!!!!!!

Thumbs down Good morning everybody

It is a beautiful sunny day......been enjoying my evenings with the family and sleeping in a bit in the mornings and our routine of the library and swimming lessons for the remainder of the week.

I go scrapping tonight....I guess I will have to start my wedding album as I think I am just about caught up on everything else.

I am going to my interview on friday regarding the critical care course I applied for but I am pretty sure that I won't be accepting their acceptance.......I don't want full time 12 hour shifts in the ICU and that is one of the conditions of taking the course upon completion. I just think that it will take me away from my family to much and will add a lot of pressure on my 11 year old who is starting grade 7......jr high this fall. I really do believe that it is the mother who sets the tone in a home and it is up to me to keep things together. I think that my priority over the next year will be my family and my health. There will be other career opps in the future.......thanks for everyone's support and encouragement reagarding same yesterday.

My dd 5 is taking a diving class at the pool and loving it....it is so cute watching them dive and come up for a big gulp of air before they head for the side.....no fear of deep water which is great...she can float and I taught her it doesn't matter how deep the water is cause she swims on the top!

My dd 11 is bored silly if we are not on the go every minute but that is ok......after friday we will be on the go every minute....I like the first couple weeks to be a bit more relaxed and laid back. After that I will be hauling her and her friends to the out door water park, the spray park, picnics, local festivals etc. WE are heading to BC...Panorama the end of July/Aug start.

Hope all is well......sounds like it is hot and happy all the way around.

Great to see everyone keeping in touch the lazy hazy daz of summer.

Bye for now!

Eliz

Liz.. I applaud you on your decision.. and you are right.. there will be more opportunities. I have two sisters who are ICU nurses.. one near my age, children nearly grown now... it's been tough and I believe she has regretted how things had to be.. she didn't have a choice. The other has quit (just a month ago.. right after her last mat leave ended)... she is considerably younger than I, and has a 1 and 3 year old. Her hub is a doctor (specialist) so she had more choice than the other. She's opted to stay home til the kids hit school, then maybe go part time.

I am in education, so have been able to have relatively the same hours as my kids, and certainly the same holidays. I couldnt' have asked for a better situation because I had no choice about staying home. Now the job opportunities in my own field are opening up more, and I took a change in January because the kids are now 15 and 20. Those opportunities DO come back

Leens.. good luck with the Atkins.. I did great with 8 pounds but no more wants to come off. I haven't been exercising, I know, but you'd think I'd have lost something in 3 weeks instead of gaining 2.5 ... and I still have 30something to go.. it's not like I'm close!

Cathy.. hope things slow down for you! You've had a busy time of it.

April.. hang in there You sound so much better than a few months back.. something's working!

Kempy.. I've been on my own nearly a week *L... hub and daughter are away (out of prov) at a national judo competition.. it's been nice *s... (I do miss them a bit lol)

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Default Good Evening Everyone

I'm finally getting on the computer as the day is almost ending. I worked a 12 hour day today as we are in the middle of a big lawsuit so things are kind of crazy, then I had a divorce support group after work, so just got home. I'm exhausted! I taped Big Brother, so am going to relax and watch that. I can't exercise until next week once my tooth heals and my fever goes away (last of root canal tomorrow!). I ate fairly sensibly today, except waited too long for dinner and got Taco Bell on way home...and I don't even like their food. So my goal tonight is to NOT SNACK! Or if I do, have a piece of fruit.

It's not muggy here today, but warm for the Seattle area. We hit the high 70's and it's supposed to get in the 80's tomorrow. Because hardly anyone (including me) has air conditioning, the hot days aren't fun. We have air conditioning at work, but then I come back to the apartment and sweat! I'll be glad to get some weight off...then I don't get as hot!

Hope you all have a nice evening!

Keatherwood....I live in the central interior of B.C.....most people here don't have air conditioning...we don't either....our humidity is usually low....but when it gets hot....it can really be uncomfortable....we have a deep basement & it is always 10 degrees cooler down there.

So when it gets really hot....I go down the basement....we have a big window fan on a chair about 3 feet from the foot of the bed. We usually have it on all night.

Do you have any fans?....that might help.

I do have a couple of fans around, and there is a ceiling fan in my bedroom. The bad part is this is a three story townhouse. You come in through the garage, go up a bunch of stairs to the living, dining, family rooms, kitchen and guest bath...then you go up another big flight of stairs to the bedrooms...so of course all the heat goes upstairs. I usually open all the windows and turn the ceiling fan on when I get home from work and it starts to cool down by bedtime, but right now I'm in the family room on the computer and have a small fan blowing on me. When my son is home I don't mind opening the patio door, but I'm a chicken when I'm home alone!

I love Canada. We used to go to Vancouver, BC quite often as it's only about 3 hours from here, but haven't been there for awhile. I would love to explore deeper into Canada someday. I hear it's really pretty.

Your place sounds like our DS1's townhouse....he lives in a suburb of Vancouver...the garage is on the ground floor with one room on that floor...then the kichen, dining room & living room is on the next floor up....then the bedrooms are on the top floor.

DH & I visit him usually 2 times a year.....in the summer the bedroom is hot....I have suggested to DH that we bring the window fan we have...he says there is no room in the trunk...lol.

I have seen us leave his place to come home at 6 A.M....because it is so hot.

I must be starting to feel better....I am knitting again.....just a scarf now. Also I bought a plant today to put on the deck....even put it in a pot...for so long I haven't done much of anything around the house except clean a bit, laundry & read. So I think that is something positive....for me at least.

Liz ....I even looked at a book on Scrapbooking at WalMart today....don't have a clue about it though.I have a huge Rubbermaid container of pictures from the last 20 years....I should do something with them.

I should go to bed now.

April

Don't know if this helps, but I grew up in an old two story home that would get terribly hot in summer. Dad used to turn the fan on from the furnace and it moved the air around. Just a thought..

I grew up in a very old 2 story house also......it got very hot in the summer also. Until I was 12....I slept on the main floor....then when I was 12...all us kids slept upstairs.....it was so hot....we had no air conditioning back then also. Where I lived then....we had high humidity.

It seems that when I was a kid.....I didn't seem to notice the heat.....now this was the 50's.....& all summer we were barefoot....in shorts or a bathing suit.

I notice the heat the older I get. My 17 year old wears black T-shirts and long jeans and doesn't seem bothered by it at all. We hit 92 degrees here today, which is really uncommon for this area. At least there is a breeze blowing tonight, so I have all the windows open, fans going, and ceiling fan in my bedroom going. We don't have a furnace in this apartment. There is a gas fireplace, which kept us warm enough all winter. Each room also has an electric heater, but didn't use those....too expensive! So no blower to turn on. At least it is supposed to get down to the 80's tomorrow and maybe even our usual rain for the weekend! I had my root canal finished today, so the heat is worse with a sore mouth. My soon to be ex came by to fix something for me tonight. I was hoping he would come alone so we could talk, but he brought our other son with him. It was hard seeing him as I miss him so much...but I'm determined not to head for the ice cream!
