Default Snack foods

OK, I admit there are days when I want to eat all day long. What are some good choices for "grazing foods"?

I'm a grazer myself. I tend to eat something every two hours or so. I tend to eat things like non fat yogurt, an apple, a banana, carrot chips, string cheese, a teaspoon of peanut butter or a single square of dark chocolate. From time to time, I'll cook up some broccoli and have that.

I eat apricots. One or 2 satisfy me, and they've got some iron (I tend to be low), vitamin C, and vitamin A.

On work days, I really like nuts. I weigh out a couple of ounces that I can account for in my daily calories, toss them in a plastic bag, and I can pick all day.

If I have them I would eat an avocado with just salt and pepper on it, I think the fat satisfied my cravings, then I wouldn't be looking for something else.

I think any veg, fruit like an apple, or nuts as suggested above would be ok.

I used to have celery with peanut butter in it as well, if you like it. I would stay away from any kind of carby things or processed foods if possible, like I would not recommend those snack packs, it seems like they just make me want to eat more of them.

DH likes crunchy granola bars, not the soft ones, and sometimes cottage cheese.

An old WW thing was vanilla yogurt with crushed pineapple...oh yeah, we got those carrots that are cut like potato chips, they were pretty good for something to munch and crunch on.

good luck! sometimes a low sodium v8 works too, if it's something lacking in the diet that's making you crave...

I'm with the above poster on those snack packs and processed foods. I avoid! However, sometimes when I feel like I have to have Cheetos or something along those lines, I just love Quaker rice cakes. I get the minis. So many flavors to satisfy any craving (sweet or salty)! And then if you "blow it" and eat too many, it's a forgiving snack because it's low in calories.

I have been roasting mushrooms and snacking on those. They are very filling and have a very meaty texture

I have a hobbit's love for mushrooms. How do you roast them?

There are some veggie/flaxseed chips from Trader Joes I absolutley love with salsa but my incidence rate has dropped, I was over doing them so now I have them every 3-5 weeks if I feel weak to a snack.

When I wasn't eating healthy, my food of choice was chips & candy. Now that I'm eating healthier, I have exchanged things. For chips, I like soy nuts...they are salty & crunchy. Sweet? I now reach for fruit, I make sure to keep apples, bananas, raisins & grapes on hand. My shopping cart a few weeks ago looked like something for a college frat house...tons of junk food. Now it's pretty with all kinds of fruit & veggie colors! I like it!!!
I also exchanged soda for fruit flavored sparkling water. I get the bubbles I like, fun flavors but no caffine or sodium. Win-win! If I want something sweet like a cookie, I love a few graham crackers with a banana! Enjoy looking for new things to nibble!

I love apples with hummus or (a few) almonds.

I read a post recently that had a recipe for roasted chickpeas with a pinch of chili powder that sounded great. I haven't tried it yet but plan to use curry spices instead of just chili. I've also heard that dehydrated kale is fabulous and satisfies the "crunch".

I love to eat red seedless grapes in the afternoon when I feel like I am starving, but it is just a little too early for dinner. I keep them bought and washed up stored in the fridge. They are sweet and crunchy and yum!
I also like honeycrisp apples. They are sweet and sour, and have a wonderful crunch to them.

Try celery sticks dipped in PB2 powder. I like to eat the peanut butter powder dry -- tried it mixed with water, but didn't like the texture. I'm pretty sure that celery has almost negative calories, and the powder is like 45 cals for 2 TBS. It has very little fat, but all the taste of peanut butter. YUM!

I'm waiting to hear about the roasted mushrooms, I love mushrooms as well.

soy nuts are good, I also try and make sure there is always fruit in the house and rarely ice cream or potato chips, it can be frustrating sometimes wandering around wondering why there are no potato chips, but i can't eat them if they're not here!
