ZumbaChica-Try taking your vitamins right after you brush your teeth?? That is when I take my blood pressure pill, etc. It's habit now.
I need ya'll to talk me down....LOL. Seriously, I had a small amount of banana bread left in the fridge (it has already been frozen/defrosted once) and I got it out and told the boys to be sure to eat it. Guess who's had two (albeit very small) pieces?? I'm real good when the stuff isn't around, but set it out in front of me and I have to have it! I'm not that way with chips, etc. just sweet treats like breads, cookies, cake, etc.

Annie, stay away from the bread!!!!
The good news is that we are almost out of sweets. The bad news is I'm baking bread tomorrow, and I'm worried I'll bake some brownies while I'm at it. I've been craving brownies. Bad Penguin!
I didn't exercise over the weekend but I rarely do so I count them as rest days and move on. Usually by Sat I feel I need a rest anyway. Cardio and weights tomorrow, along with the bread baking and laundry. That will keep me busy!
One of my favorite DVD instructors is filming two new workouts soon, and the pre-order starts the 8th. I'm pretty sure I will end up getting both. http://www.totalfitnessdvds.com/Sear...show=10&page=2

Barb, I did the calculation (via Google, useful tool, that) and 624 miles is 1,004.23 kilometers. That got me curious and I did my calculation in reverse, and I'm aiming for 1,249.58.
Got on the scale this morning and I'm down another 400 grams, to my lowest in three years, 76.8 kilos. That's just under 169 pounds. I feel like I've made good food choices so far (oatmeal with soy milk and craisins for breakfast every day), but tonight might throw me off the rails. We're having our end-of-year office dinner (we had to delay it so it's really the beginning-of-the-year dinner this year). The boss is taking us (with spouses) to a really nice restaurant. I'm going to aim for lots of protein and hardly any carbs, but the desserts there are going to be my downfall. They have this amazing halvah sorbet. Keep your fingers crossed for me, but I'm sure the numbers are going to go in the wrong direction tomorrow...

Good morning.
Up a pound, but I know it's just water fluctuation (still about it, though). Met (barely) my goals yesterday. I spent some time working out menus for the next couple days--I've never planned out ahead more than a day, so it will be interesting to see how it works out.
I'm back at work today--partly looking forward to getting back into it and seeing everybody, and partly wishing for another week off. This was a longer break than usual and I've been loving it--and so have teh kittehs. They're upset this morning--they recognize my preparations for work.
Well, we'll all get back into the routine. I'm off to the gym this morning for the first time this year.
Flamanette -- I'm not a coffee drinker, but what I know of other coffee drinkers says you are one determined person, changing your coffee habits. You go! It's those daily habits that let the calories slip in unnoticed.
AnnieD--I thought I heard some banana bread calling, but it was muffled so I figured it was coming from the b-bread in my freezer. I can't fault you for giving in a little. I have some zuke bread in my fridge that I really should just toss. Sigh. I guess I'll freeze it tonight.
Mirj--No lipstick, but the dry erase is working okay. I'm going to go for 2011 sit-ups a month as one of my goals.
Have a great day, everyone.

Anniedrews...step away from the bread! Either somebody else eats it or throw it out...I hate waste and I was raised to believe throwing away food was a grave sin but honestly, its better off in the trash than on your hips!!!
I thought I was going to see a drop in the scale today, and I did but it was teeny tiny...snail's pace is how Atkins is going to be this time for some reason. I did go back in my records and see that the last time I did Atkins I was taking in less calories and less net carbs so maybe that is why this time is different.....
sigh****
Onward Chickies.....let's do this thing!

I got up early this morning to start the bread. Hubby shut the computer down last night, so when I restarted this morning it told me I didn't have internet connection. Grr. I started the bread and tried again thinking everyone else was trying to get on too. Still no luck, called Hubby, who suggested I hard reset the modem, which worked. Then I went to post my weight and the keyboard wouldn't work!!!. I discovered the plug was plugged in but loose! Its too early for these problems!
Hmmm. I wasn't expecting a lot, but I also didn't expect to gain 3 lbs since my last weighin either. Whoops, wrong way.

Hello everyone - I need to start at the beginning of this thread to get caught up but wanted to just pop in and say Happy New Year. Back from Christmas with my family in Florida and our wedding ... had a wonderful time, which passed all too quickly. Got home last night and this morning stepped on the scale and was up a LOT - we'd already talked about getting our fresh start today, so today it starts ...looking at our wedding pics, I didn't realize how big I'd gotten until it's shown in a light dress with everyone else in dark clothes! But it went perfectly.

Annie-Is it more difficult to tell the banana bread to get lost if you are already out of meals/snacks? I can't even begin to imagine cooking for a family who eats "normal" foods and can have a bunch of treats. That would make it harder to resist, having to constantly have temptation around. Yikes! Even without, I still just think I want a cookie or cheesecake or something else that isn't on plan. At first whenever I felt like that, I went outside and crawled around the block and usually by the time I got back, the desire wasn't so strong. Oh...look at the grocery store if you are a tea drinker at all and see if they have "Good Earth" brand original. It is spicy and tases sweet though there is no sugar in it. Sometimes that helps me.
Zumba-like Annie said-find a regular time to take your vitamins and then take them the same time every day. Even if you need to tie up a weeks worth in individual baggies and tie 'em to your toothpaste ;-) And be patient with the losing. A steady downward trend is good. Do you weigh yourself every day? That would be tough...too many fluctuations.
Penguin-Just keep at it and you WILL lose. Can you focus on the process and the plan and not worry so much about the scales? And maybe pinch your nostrils shut so you don't have to smell the bread baking!!! I would have my whole head in the oven, eating up the loaves like bobbing for apples at Halloween!
Mirj-I forgot to do the calculation, so I'm glad you did. I think your number is amazing and mine is a lot better than the zero I was doing this time last year. Am I remembering correctly about halvah that it is kind of an airy dessert with pistachios? If it's what I'm thinking, I didn't know folks made it into sorbet-interesting. maybe you could ask the server to just bring you a 1/2 size portion? And make really good choices for the rest of the meal. I was reading somewhere...blog???...not sure...about how people ate more at the movies when they had larger containers. The same percentage of the container, but a larger container holding more and they ate more total. So maybe a 1/2 portion would seem like enough if that's all that came to the table?
So, I stayed on plan yesterday. Did my library walk and thankfully it was just cold not windy and freezing. Forgot to do my 5 girly pushups. Will do them today before I walk and forget. We'll be walking to the grocery store for bananas. It's about 5 miles round trip.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Barb

Angel, LOL on your head in the oven. Most of the day is spent with the bread just sitting on the stove, keeping warm, and rising. I don't get to the actually baking until around dinnertime. So that is something, but it smells yeasty in there.

I'm not EVEN going to try to make comments to each person here....hard enough to get caught up here today!!
Did okay by only having the two small pieces of bread last night. I told the boys to "eat it up"! Got my 3 mile walk done this morning.
Barb-Your post cracked me up! I can just see you "crawling" around the block!
Thanks to all for the support.
Nationalparker-Welcome back married lady!! I'd love to see some pics, but understand about privacy issues on the internet. So glad everything went smoothly.

Thanks!! Now I'm in the debate - shocked at weight this morning. Not good. Now they're starting a ww at work program here. Do I join that, which won't start for three weeks? Or use my momentum for CHANGE and join at the local center and just do that? I'm leaning toward the latter one because of the lagtime in the startup. Had success with ww years ago and got down to 129 and settled in at 135 and was able to keep that, then up to 140 and was good with that as I got older. NOW - ARGH.
Hope everyone has a great evening! Off soon to pick up copies of photos from the wedding. I'm not going to refer to them as my "before" pics, though... even though they will be.
We're now planning the "reception" dinner for his family up here - it'll be next weekend. Just a nice meal out and good conversation, I hope.

Welcome back nationalp. I'm sure you'll get all settled into your new life and you'll be able to get right back on track. Maybe you can join ww online and then switch when the new group is up an drunning? Get the plan you need right away and then get the support at wwork?
Annie-I did used to crawl around the block nearly. Or maybe gorilla walk. I was such a sorry mess back then. I'm grateful for the improvement! Good job to you on your walk, which I'm assuming is the WATP. I'll be using that a lot come summer.
Penguin-I love the way bread smells...rising, baking, toasting just sitting there int he wrapper...doesn't matter! YUM! And you got your weights done too. Nice!
I got my banana walk done. My feet are tuckered out and I had Robert put ben gay on my neck, shoulders and lower back before he left for work. Hope the bone spurs or whatever on my heels doesn't give me a hard time tomorrow. Forgot to do the pushups again. I think I must not be focused and motivated enough for those. Getting ready to brew a pot of starbucks we got for Christmas and then make the pumpkin oatmeal. I hope it tastes good. And is filling. It will be my slightly made-over version from a recipe on Food Network that we saw a few days ago. Pumpkin, oatmeal, cranberries, almond milk and a sprinkling of walnuts. A banana on the side. Oh and I am proud of myself for my food today. I fell off plan...had some raw spinach leftover and chopped up some to put into my eggbeaters. Good for me to get an extra ounce of veg and not throw away food. I'll write down the extra 6 cals, but it was a good way to fall off.

Ack! Received a gift in the mail from my brother and his wife....they had sent it to my old address so it is just now getting here. CHOCOLATE COVERED MACADAMIA NUTS!!!!! A serving size is 4 pieces....243 cal. and 17 grams of fat per serving. I've already had 4 of them.
I will have to figure out what to do with them....I CANNOT eat those. As much as I love them, I love what I've done for myself this past year much better.
You all are such great inspiration here and such good examples of getting back on track. I really dread weigh-in this week....I have a feeling I may be up even more.
On the bright side....my new WATP DVD came in the mail today. Also the 10 pound weighted vest I ordered to wear while doing certain walks. I'll mess with those and may try the new workout tomorrow.
Penguin-Great job on the weights!!
NP-Go ahead and do SOMETHING now, even if it is counting calories or something similar. It will help to get back into the swing of healthy eating.
Barb-Yay for the banana walk! Hope your heels don't bother you too much.

Sigh, I made the brownies after I baked the bread...
Annie, egads on the nuts! Nice of your brother though. Which Leslie did you get?
NP, whichever direction you choose to go I would do something while you are motivated.
Barb, pumpkin oatmeal? that sounds good!
