yes, you can definitely walk rather than run and it's fine. Even with just a brisk walk rather than jogging, it still tells me that I'm keeping a good pace.

I haven't tried walking...because I wasn't sure it would "register". But I did start out doing the Basic Run, then worked up to the Advanced run...and increased my time slowly from there. I sometimes do the Run Plus (or whatever it's called) that quizzes you on what your Mii runs past. I like the Free Run and Free Step best because I can watch DVRed TV - like Grey's Anatomy - while I workout.

OK-finally got to try the Wii Sports Boxing today so I can tell you how it compares to Punch Out. The Wii Sports Boxing is better than I thought. The Punch Out has some extra bells and whistles-its balance board compatible and can tell how you are moving your body better than the Wii sports one-like when you duck or dodge. It also has different classes-like featherweights, heavyweights, etc. But the Wii Sports one will definately get your heart pumping and get you sweating. I might use the wii sports one for some of the training exercises-might make me better at Punch out. I'll win more matches. I only played two matches on the Wii sports. I won both of them but they were by decision not knock outs. That's how I tend to win on Punch out too.

I did the island lap for the first time this morning.. I think it's 10/12 mins but I was nearly dead afterwards! Hope I can build it up to 30 mins too....
I pace myself i jogg for the first 10 min walk the next 10 then finish with jogging.. If im not really feeling jogging i switch and walk twice and jogg once. Its up to you. since i do this for an hour or more streight my feet become sore since i dont use shoes but i found if i put a towel down on the carpet and run on it it isnt so bad > i also have a flat pillo i sometimes run on to cushion my feet. I know i should use shoes but i usually exercise at night and i dont wanna wake up the whole house with an earthquake.. because thats what it sounds like exercising with shoes on.

lol! Thanks for the tip, This week I've been doing the island lap, just jogging it for 10 mins but I like the idea of walking/jogging intervals so I think I'll do the same as you next time.

Well I've been doing Wii fit now every day for three weeks and I'm down 7lbs I'm so happy

Sarah!! Great to see you again. This forum has kept me so busy I haven't had time to post on the Sonoma/Med one. I need to make the time to do that. They get a kick out of all my creative protein choices here. Glad to see you are enjoying your Wii Fit.

Hi Mary!! How are you?

I jumped on this forum because it's the only active one about wii fit...

Sonoma/Med forum going fine.. I'm really loving the wii fit, I've got myself into a nice little routine now with it and it's really kickstarted the weightloss.

Hope you are doing well

I did my Wii Fit for almost 40 minutes tonight. I did the boxing before I got too tired and that seemed to work a little better. I also unlocked the long run on the basic run plus. That didn't take very long to unlock. I actually jog in place. It always tells me that my pace is uneven and I also tend to get ahead of my little dog or cat guide from time to time but it seems to work out okay. I think I've also decided that I want to wear shoes for 10 minutes of boxing! My feet started to hurt tonight.

Sarah, I'm so glad to see that your having success with your Wii Fit. I know how frustrated you were being stuck.

Good job Petra!

I end up wearing shoes most of the time, even though I know it says you aren't supposed to with the balance board. But I have hardwood floors and it's slippery if I try just socks, and I end up hurting more afterwards (my knees) if I don't use any cushioning.

I think if I was doing the yoga or strength moves, I'd take my shoes off for those, but I mostly just do the aerobic stuff, with a little bit of the balance games.

Good job! I usually wear trainers for the rhythm boxing, jogging, step plus and rhythm parade. For the yoga and muscle training I don't wear shoes or socks.

I've managed to do an hour on it most of last week and today. I usually do aerobics for 20 mins or so, then my personal wii routine which lasts 28 mins, then afterwards I do the balance games and training plus games to make up the hour.

At the moment I'm loving the super advanced 10 min boxing and the 10 min island run.

Good luck bethinoklahoma!

The 10 minute boxing killed me the first time I did it but it went better last night. I think I need to do it earlier in my routine so I'm not too tired when I get to it. Strange how I've gotten to like the running parts so much-would have never imagined that would have happened. I wear these shoes that are made to get wet-they are super light weight and they just slip on. They are real convenient for this purpose and the balance board does not register them as changing my weight significantly.

Well I sure am glad to see others are wearing shoes. I have a foot problem and by the time I get home from work most days my feet are killing me. I thought you couldn't wear shoes on the wii because it might break or something so i was trying different things on my feet.

I have some dance shoes that are very soft leather. It's like wearing nothing nothing at all. I was wearing them with socks but my feet still hurt.

Then I tried wearing my slippers which have a hard sole which was ok but It didn't seem like it was registering the advanced step right.

Now I'm going to use my sneakers. I have some lightweight running shoes that are not as heavy as my walking shoes I'll try those tonight.

The other day I was doing the advanced boxing. I don't know how long it is but it was killing me. Especially that dodge left, right, step back, gee I was all over the place. That's one thing I dont think I'll get right.

What I do want to know is does the advanced step have an UNLOCK to a longer time. I've been doing that for awhile but I find I do it twice because I really like it.

Finally if anyone likes to dance. I bought this video awile ago and I love it. I keep forgetting to do it but I did it yesterday and almost got to the end, It a combination AFRICAN, LATIN, BRAZILLIAN MIX. I use to do african dance back in high school so I knew some of the steps. But guess what I'm not in high school any more. LOL Anyway the name of the video is

Dance Fitness for Beginners with MaDonna Grimes: African Beat - Latin Heat

You can find it on Amazon for about $7.00. If you don't want to spend the money on a Zumba Dvd I highly recommend this one. In fact look at the reviews on Amazon.
