We got Wii Fit plus for my dd last week and she's having a BLAST with it. She's 9 and has been in the high percentile for weight since she was about 4. Bless her heart, she's inherited Mama's tendency to gain weight. Her brother is the opposite, skinny as a rail.

We're eating healthy as a family. She's given up all sodas and I can already tell a difference.

Quick question tho - does the scale on the Wii Fit run on the light side? When we did her fit test, she was lower than what she thought.

One more quick question - my scale broke - can you use the Wii fit as a scale only?

Default Wii advanced step

I have a question for anyone doing the advanced step. Whenever I get to the green step, the one where your foot is up but doesn't touch the board, I always get an OK. how can it not give me a perfect if I'm not suppose to touch the board.

Another thing I noticed is getting a PERFECT seems to mean placing your foot exactly on a certain place on the board.

I know my foot placement has been off quite a bit because my foot has been bothering me but I'd like to hear from some others

Kittygirl-my balance board scale appears to be pretty much on target with my bathroom scale so I would say yes, it is a good alternative. I don't think it matters much as long as you use the same scale consistently.

2feelbetter-I think it is measuring your rhythm for lack of a better word so it can tell when you take your foot off the board. I haven't paid that much attention to foot placement myself but it probably does make a difference. I find that if I take higher steps, it seems to work better-pick your feet up in an exaggerated fashion so it knows when your foot is on and off the board. Also probably burns more calories that way.

Thanks Petra. I'm going to give the Wii fit a try when I have time. It looks like so much fun when dd is doing it. She's even telling me useful information about proper balance she's learning on there

I have to say it is fun. Even stuff that isn't really turned into a game very well is fun for some reason-go figure.

re: Advanced Step

I also find that it's more the rhythm and timing rather foot placement. There are times where it tells me I've missed taking my foot off the balance board and well, duh, my foot is on the floor, so yeah, it's off!! lol! But I just didn't take it off the board at the right time for the routine.

I will admit that it's probably been that long since I used my Wii Fit too - I've done Golds Gym a couple of times, but for now, I've been focusing more on my food plan, and less on the activity.

Hi guys,

I am also on the Wii now. I do it before going to work and work off 455 calories every day. I love for it to weigh me and keep track of my weight.

I do like the running games, because when doing them I can take off a big junk of my calories fast, but learned that just jogging in place is not for me. So I actually run around my furniture and it is lots better on my feet and legs.

Ordered me some running shoes this morning, thinking of going jogging outside instead of in the house. I found, that I can run all runs without breathing heavy so I do want to try it.

Also like the hulla games, in advanced mode it gives me a good workout.

Just missing a partner to play against, fight for scores and stuff, would make more fun this way.

Hi!! I've been MIA for a LONGG while, but now I'm back. I am SO READY to lose weight! I've been working on it for a few weeks now and have been making so many changes to my diet which I was ready for which was giving up soda, giving up fast food restaurants, and PORTION CONTROL!! Don't get me wrong, I am STILL able to eat all of my favorite foods that I have been eating, I just eat them in SMALLER sizes. Now, I saw that there was a WiiFit discussion and I had to hop onto the wagon because I just got mine like last week and I have LOVED it but I kinda lost motivation because the WiiFit exercises is not enough for me. I kinda want something more fun, something that would be more consistent and not just do one exercise at a time. I want to do dancing, fun moves without watching the minutes. You know what I mean? I want to do like 20, 30, 40 minutes of straight exercising instead of exercising for 5 minutes, then move on to another exercise then move on to another.. I just want to do it STRAIGHT.. Any suggestions of which WiiFit or Wii exercise games would be good for me? I am not exactly in shape and my calves have gotten sore but have recovered from it. Wii is SO MUCH FUN!!! I am thinking of getting my husband the PlayStation 3 with Move on it. I'm wondering if that one has better choices or would I just be wasting my money? I saw that there is a new exercise game coming out soon on November 18th, Zumba! I am SO WANTING to try that as well!! Lookin' forwards to hearing more suggestions. :-) Thanks!!

Zumba? Who knew!!! I just came back to 3FC after many months off...glad to see some familiar people. (And now--boo-hoo--I'm a fifty something!) Such a shock when I hooked up the Wii today, stepped on to the balance board and found "you've gained 17.6 pounds since your last visit." I mean...really? I'd forgotten that I was well under 200 not that long ago. Sigh.

But I'm glad to be back, and I'm interested in the new dance workouts. And I just did 20 minutes of advanced step and 10 of balance games just to get back in the swing of things.
