CruiseCAT: "I met my husband Mack online in November 1996" is a lie. Maybe his name is something else? Maybe the year or month is wrong? Maybe you didn't meet him online.
CanadaMel: "I have 2 tattoos" is a lie. Maybe you have more??
I actually did meet Mack online back in 1996; we married just 2.5 months later. Because it was so long ago most people do pick that one. We did the internet dating thing before it became popular. My lie is that I have been skydiving twice. I have no desire to jump out of a perfectly fine/safe airplane.
Canada Mel - I'm thinking allergic to dogs is the lie.
NewLeaf - Is the lie living west of the Mississippi?
CruiseCAT is right -- I do not live west of the Mississippi River. In fact, I live just north of the starting point of the Ohio River.
I have had altitude sickness while acclimating to the altitude in Cuzco, Peru (11,000'). I was nervous about taking the pills to help prevent it, but after not being able to sleep for 2 nights in a row with the bed spinning, I decided to take them. They did seem to help. I still didn't sleep well or feel like eating much, but we hiked up over 15,000' and the bed (er, sleeping bag) never spun again. Phew!
My husband and I *were* an office romance, and when we got married forced the company to change their nepotism rules (their other choice was to choose which one of us to fire since neither of us was going willingly).
Beemer - scorpion is the lie
OnMyWay - piano is the lie
I'm thinking maybe this should have been a separate thread. I hope people that are not interested in two truths and a lie will still share.
Beemer - I too find it hard to believe you are a shy person.
OnMyWay - Met DH in a bar
LessofMaur - Never flown (I know there are many out there that have not, it just seems "unreal" to me).
I have never ordered a steak in a restaurant. I prefer seafood or chicken. I met my DH in a bar right after I graduated from college. We married one year later!
Newleaf is right. I do not play piano, both of my kids took lessons, maybe one day I will take them myself.
You guessed it CruiseCAT I have flown in an airplane. It's true that I do love to scrapbook although I never can find the time and I am really allergic to raw onions. I can eat them cooked but if I eat them raw my heart starts to race and my asthma symptoms kick up.
Guess I need to fess up huh? I am not shy in real life at all! I used to be when I was younger somewhat but as I get older I don't worry so much about what other people think like I did as a kid.
I lived in California as a little one and actually did pick up a scorpion to give to my mom. She didn't even know what it was and put it in a jar. Our friends in the mountains were having their house exterminated for them so my mom asked to see a picture of what they looked like. She was shocked when she found out!
I raise several different types of birds including finches, doves, waxbills, quail and lovebirds. I ship the quail and their eggs all over the country. It is a pretty fun hobby that pays for itself!
This is a fun thread CAT!! Thanks for starting it! I think we should continue this March thread with cute ways like this of getting to know each other. How about the next 3 questions be:
1. Where were you born?
2. Your favorite vacation spot?
3. What do you do for a living?
My answers:
1. San Bernadino, CA
2. Going back to CA and going to Disney and just going the scenery.
3. Raise birds, groom dogs and take care of my family. I don't work outside
my home and do it all here. My husband is in heating and cooling.
2. Your favorite vacation spot? The Upper Peninsula of Michigan
3. What do you do for a living? I am a freelance writer and hope to start grad school in the fall. I also take care of my family: DH, 11 year old DS and yellow lab. My DH is a pilot...so my lie was really a stretch!
Beemer, your bird business sounds fascinating. I would love to hear more about it.
2. Your favorite vacation spot? I don't have a favorite. But I've loved Bar Harbor, ME; Cape Cod (I grew up in Massachusetts); Telluride; and Barcelona. This year I had originally wanted to go to Moab, UT for vacation, but since it will be the heat of summer, we decided to go the Shenandoah Forest in Virginia instead.
3. What do you do for a living? I do some consulting work from home for a market research firm. I gave up what had been a career in high-tech software 9 years ago.
