Trying to start a new with with a new attitude

  • Hello everyone, I am one of probably several women who want to change themselves this year. I am 43 and 63 pounds overweight. I am going to try to change my way of thinking and my approach on life. I have enjoyed reading alot of the posts here and think all the support will help me attain my goal weight of 150 lbs. I hope to hear from someone that is in the same boat as I am. I join MRC tomorrow at 5:30 and hopefully I will have some good news to post in the future! Hugs and good luck to everyone!
  • Hi, Shannon!
I'm with you - this year, I'm going to make a heroic and concentrated effort to not beat myself up for not being perfect, and to try to be my own best friend. I'm going to give myself room to suck at the things I'm trying to do - instead of giving up at the first sign of failure, I resolve to spend time figuring out why it happened and what I can do differently on the next round.

    Let's make 2009 a great one!
  • Welcome, Shannon! The 40s are a great time to find our best selves - inside and out. I look forward to chatting with you on the boards!
  • Hi Shannon - I'm 40 and have 66 pounds to loose. We can do this!
  • Hi Shannon! I will be 41 tomorrow and am determined that this will be MY year to get healthy, fit and be happy with my weight. I would like to lose approx. 45 pounds. (will update my actual weight when I buy a new battery for my scale)

    We can do this!

Although I'm not sure which approach I want to use this time. I have been on WW, with success. I have tried LAWL, and was successful with them too, but my center closed and I gained all the weight back.

I know what I NEED to do. Just need to kick up into gear and just do it.

Just wanted to say HI. And you are not alone...
  • You are all inspirations
    Hi Everyone,
I am 49 and have lost 44 pounds starting in August-by calorie counting and boot camping. Able to get into a size 31 or 32 Guess jeans even though I am still 187 or 186 depends on the time of day.
I would like to lose another 35 pounds by June-in time for son #2's high school graduation.
We can do this and frankly I am in better shape than I have been in my entire life. Never before have I been able to do regular mens push-ups! Or run fast!
Or have arms with defined muscles!
It can be done and I wish you all well for the New Year!
I have been reading this site every night when I am a bit hungry and I want to snack or give up. So thank you all for being there. and giving me inspiration.
  • Welcome!
    Hi everyone!

Lots of newcomers and interest in the 40's board these days. It's great to see everyone here, excited to change their lives and support one another. When I started back in September there was very little activity going on in this board. I have found 3FC a great source of inspiration and I am proud to say I am half way to my goal. I feel better than I have in years and am doing things I didn't think I would ever be able to do again. Let's stick together and cheer each other on!

  • Hello all~
I'm in too! Here's to our success!
  • My thoughts exactly!! I too am shooting for 150. Good Luck to you!!
  • Hello everyone! I must first say happy bday dolphin. I will be 42 in a few weeks and have many lbs to loose. I have been skinnier before but have let emotions get the best of me. But hey that is what the 30s are for. I think that our 40s are for living. So let's all live and be the best that we can be!
  • You know we are only who we are, why beat our self up for it!n I really appreciate all the support. It feels good knowing I am not the only 40 something's woman with a goal! I think if we all work together we can make 2009 an fantastic year. I mean hey, If I don't lose weight, I have at least started eating healthy again! No more fast food, being very particular about dining at a restaurant and cooking at home a bunch more! Getting dish pan hands from cleaning up after I cook, but it sure feels good to make a good meal again! Hugs to everyone for the support and I look forward to seeing everyone on here!
  • Shannon, plus think of the chance for you are your man to cook together. You are right tho you have started eating healthy and that is the most important thing.
