Default I am shocked and embarrassed

Well in my introduction a week ago I stated that I was too afraid to step on the scale. I estimated my weight at 200 and wanted to lose 50 pounds. Well this morning I got the nerve to step on the scale. I am NOT 200 but 222!! I am hysterical. How could I have gotten like this? I am more than motivated, I am just ANGRY !! I guess it is my own damn fault because if I had stepped on a scale I would have realized that I was out of control. So now the fight begins............ Diet, Exercise and lots of help from this site. So anyone out there can send me their thoughts and all the help I will need to make this happen.

Well lets turn this into something positive, you can now change your life and yourself so you will no longer have to feel like that again.

Do you have any kind of plan?

I am going to count calories, load the house up with veggies and high fiber cereals and oatmeal, low fat dairy, I am going to prepare as much fish as I can afford and then the second choice will be chicken. I am reading all this wonderful information on this site and it looks like I have to stay around 1200 to 1400 calories a day. High fiber and low fat snacks inbetween meals seems to be important. And of course, lots of water! I ask for lots of tips and advice PLEASE !

Suzzy, We've all been where you are this morning. Take deep breaths and get ahold of yourself. There's going to be no help in being angry with yourself. The wrong choices are in the past. My best advice would be to love yourself right where you are right now...I know so Dr. Phil, but it's true. If you don't cut yourself some slack, who will? My second best tip is to add walking to your program...even if it's just around the block at first. Walking has really helped me regulate my mood, burn calories, strengthen my back...etc plus it's cheap and gets easier every time you do it.
Hang in there!

Suzzy,
I am also new here. you We have alot in common except that I
seem to be addicted to my scale. When I see an increase, it
drives me crazy. Lately, I have been really trying to stay off of it.
They say you should weigh yourself once a week.
In the meantime, I totally agree with the others-what's done is done.
Try to consider this a new beginning!! Like you I hope to get support
and advise from all the people at 3fc.

It is good that you are using the shock as motivation rather than defeat!

The scale is a poor measure of progress anyway. You know what you want your body to look like and feel like and the real point is that you are not there right now...but you are doing something about it!

Good for you!

You will all be proud of me. I just came home from a baby shower, for an Italian girl..........Can we say "Homemake italian cookies" !!!! But I did NOT touch a one !! No cake, no cookies. I had a LARGE salad, a piece of chicken and some raw veggies with dip and I asked what the dip was and it was Greek yogurt with seasoning. It was quite good. SO I did it...........I was not tempted ! YEAH !

Well done Suzzy. I'm thinking pasta lots of it and cannolis.

It's always hard to resist when you're at things like that but it sounds like you made good choices.

I think we have all been there. It will be a slow process, but if you stick with it and make lifestyle changes, you can lose the weight (this is what I keep telling myself, LOL)

You CAN do this!!! I strongly recommend using a journal to hold yourself accountable with the calories AND exercise. Yes - start exercising NOW. Don't wait. Do what you can (I started with walking, weightlifting, and yoga). It will make a big difference. You may actually lose more slowly at first, but - overall - it wll really help!

Enjoy the journey - come back here for support.
