Kat - It sounds like you are making really healthy choices with your food, and it also sounds like you are very committed to making a life change. And a 5 lb. loss is great. Next thing you know it will be 10 gone, then 15, then 20, and so on. You CAN do this!!!

On a side note, please don't take any offense to this, but a couple things about your post made it really hard to read. I don't know, but maybe the 30 somethings had a tough time reading it too? The first one is in all caps (hard on the eyes), and the second is all one big paragraph. Well, actually it's all one big long sentence with no punctuation.

I certainly don't think people are on 3FC to nitpick grammar and all that, but if a post is hard to read, people may skim it or skip it. Just a thought...

Also, I hope that once your husband sees how determined you are, he will get on board with you. My husband brought a 2 lbs. bag of peanut m and m's home today - I love them, so I wasn't happy! But even without him, I'm sure you can do this! Good luck!

katonajourney - I imagine your posts read a lot like you might talk...like you are excited to be here. I think you are making great choices by walking and watching what you eat. As for support from your family....if it happens that's great, but you can do this without their support. It took me a long time to realize that I can never hope to keep up with the amount of food my husband can eat. We eat the same stuff for the most part - but he can add a big ol' plate of pasta where I will have shiritaki noodles. It's all about portion control.

One other thing I have found to be really helpful is logging my food. I use FitDay.com but DailyPlate.com is good, too. It's so easy to eat more calories than I should (I'm pretty good at denial ) when I don't log.
