My latest masterpiece!
I know this isnt the best topic to post about in here...
But I bake.
Cupcakes, cakes, anything you can think of.
Now since my lifestyle change I dont eat any of it myself, but I just had to show this one off.
I am so proud of it...
Everything was handmade except for the sonic doll obviously lol.
The cake is chocolate fudge with vanilla buttercream icing, and cut up strawberries in the icing.
And its for my nephew's birthday tonight.
Just had to share the picture since I'm so freaking proud!
Oh and I have to specify that this is my first time using fondant so the bumps are normal lol.
I'm going to top off the cake with a pyrotechnic candle and a big 8

OMG! Awesome!!
Glad to see there's another baker here! I looooove to bake too, but since I changed my lifestyle, it's a bit harder
Your cake look amazing. I actually showed the picture to my boyfriend, and now he wants me to do a Sonic cake for his 25th birthday LOL

I am really relieved to know that there are other people in their 20s who are into this as a hobby haha. Cake looks great! Nice work for a first time with fondant...that stuff is tricky.

Wow!
I'm a hobbyist baker, too, so it's fun to see other people's masterpieces! Mine are more like failurepieces

Thanks ladies!
Turbomammoth The same thing happened with me.
My fiance wants me to make him a junk food cake (see what i have to deal with people! LOL)
And my twin brother wants me to make him a batman cake !
I agree with the lifestyle change I put my baking on hold, but now I realize that I just don't have to eat it
Mind you when your cupcakes look like this...
ITS A LITTLE HARD NOT TO BOO.
show me some of your work, I love getting inspiration off others creations

That is awesome! I haven't made a fancy cake in a while- my last one was a treasure chest. I have found the most success using homemade marshmellow fondant, it seems a bit more pliable and forgiving, though it is a bear to roll out very thin.

Ok, I have no baking talents/skills whatsoever to share - but I had to tell you your cake is AWESOME!! I have three nephews (ages 12, 9, and 6) who would die for this one! But I am glad you don't live anywhere near me - because those cupcakes look WAY too yummy!

Update:
His face WAS PRICELESS!!!!!!!!! He just stood there SHOCKED with his mouth fully open in the biggest smile I have ever seen! He's so adorable!!
Little did I know, he was just shocked to see the stupid SONIC on top of the cake. lololol Then his dad (my brother) said SHE MADE THE WHOLE CAKE JUST FOR YOU DARREN!!!
And he said : WHAT?! I thought it was bought!!!....oh whatever.
This is as much appreciation as a kid will give. LOL But then to make it better, he ran up to me randomly 10 minutes later and gave me the biggest hug EVER! <3
Oh and according to everyone (since I cant even eat my own cake lol) it was delicious Victory dance!
