Smile Posture and back fat

So I have always been overweight - since birth. This is pretty much the smallest I've been since, I don't know, 5th grade maybe? (I'm 42.)

I've always had horrible posture, sitting and standing. Well, lately, like in the last couple months, I've noticed my back hurts if I don't try to use good posture - particularly sitting. Since I've never been a normal size - is this normal? If I don't sit up straight, and I mean, REAL straight, my back is killing me in a few minutes.

Perhaps this is because I don't have any back fat left to support my bad posture? (Which is awesome.)

I just had to go get a pillow off the boss's couch to put behind my back in my chair so I'd remember to sit up straight.

Anyone else? Does losing your back fat make you HAVE to sit up straight, or suffer?

I never thought of that being the reason, but yes, I do have to sit up straight or the middle of my back will be killing me within minutes.

maybe you need a new mattress? If you've been using the same one all this time, the one that got broken in for your much bigger body may not be doing a good job for your new smaller self.

I got a new mattress a few months ago, even before I lost the weight and I can't tell you what a difference it has made in how I feel. I think it was actually why I had the energy to commit to this plan because I was soooooo tired and achy all the time before then.

Actually traded in my mattress from college for a new, firm one in April.

Maybe its because your butt is smaller so you sit differently. I notice when I get fat (like I am now) that I hunch more because I'm sitting on more butt...hard to explain...like, further back on my butt.
