I love mine too! I used to have the F4 and now I have a somewhat fancier model. I find it really motivating and it's really hard to exercise without it! Love it.

I've been thinking about getting one. Are they supposed to be pretty accurate?

I have a Nike monitor and I love it It motivates me to burn more calories which is awesome. I had a polar but the battery died and I had to send it in to replace it, but with Nike you can replace it like a watch battery.

Are these the around the chest ones or the wrist ones? I'm thinking of getting one to be able to keep track of my calories burnt easier/more accurately. Are they worth spending quite a bit on? Or will something under $50 do the trick just as well?

I had my Polar watch battery replaced at a local jewelry store. It took no time at all!

You have the strap that goes around your chest. And then, the watch which shows you the information. Something under $50 may do the trick...I just don't know. I know there are cheaper polar watches that do not have the memory capacity and it will only display your current workout. I'm just not sure if the cheaper monitors do the fit test on you or store your age, weight and height......

I bought one a few couple years ago. It's.....ok? I don't like the strap you have to wear around your chest. If it worked without it, I would use it daily!!

They make different kinds of chest straps for it. Or would you rather have a wrist strap instead?

The trick is to properly fit the chest strap under the strap of your bra. I don't even notice it anymore. (Really, my sport's bras are way more uncomfortable than the chest strap!) I will say that the strap on my new HRM (RS 100) is more comfortable than the one on my F4. That one had lots of plastic--the new one hardly any.

EricAnn, I would recommend rewarding yourself with one of the nice polar hrms rather than a cheap thing. I really do love mine!

I agree, you get used to the strap. I would spend money on one that calculates your calories because not all of them do, and the wrist ones don't constantly keep your heart rate (you have to put your finger on the watch to get your heart rate). These monitors last for years and they are a great investment. I have used mine on and off for three years now!

Hi,

I have the Polar FT7 and love it. It also has the chest strap but is adjustable so it is comfortable to wear. Counts calories and can use it at the gym without conflicting with someone elses data.

I have a Polar HRM I got it for christmas and seriously its the best gift I've ever received. No more guessing my calorie burn on the treadmill! The chest strap does not bother me as much now as it did when I first got it, sometimes I'll forget I'm wearing it after I work out and go about my business and then remember later. The best thing about it is being able to look back at my previous weeks of workouts and see how my fitness is improving.
