Default Using Size As A Goal

Hi All,
Just wanted to see what people think about using a size goal as a weight rather than the number on the scale. Is anyone else doing that? My ideal size is 4. I have been there before and was pretty happy with how I looked and felt. Currently, my 8s are getting loose but I am not quite a 6.

I would absolutely LOVE to be a size 2. But I will be just as pleased and happy with a size 4 or 6.

I started out at 220 with a size 16... and am now at 208 in between 14 and 12 (14 with most jeans, 12 with most dresses, the occasional 10 dress). My goal weight is 140... but I wouldn't mind getting down to 130 or 120 at the lowest... and if I lose a size every 20 lbs (not saying that's how it'll be... but yeah), at 130 I will be a size 4... through math calculations.

So... yeah. I have goals though... I want to be in a size 10 dress by the time start school in the fall... and own (and fit in) a size 8 dress... doesn't matter what it is... as long as I fit in it. And it could definitely happen... with some of the dresses out there.

My ideal size is a j. Crew 4 (I know, specific). I've found that at most stores the sizing is either erratic or obviously vanity sizing. Of the stores where I frequently shop, j. Crew has the smallest/"truest" cut.

Otherwise I'd like to be a 28 or 27 in jeans. Wishful thinking, maybe, but I've got my fingers crossed and am working towards it!

Yea the sizes come faster the smaller you get! That's the good news. You're pretty tall. I'd imagine you'd be pretty svelte in a size 4. I hit a 4 at 135-138lbs or so. I am assuming 7-10 lbs will get me back in a 6 comfortably. My issue is the scale can be crazy-making for me and I am trying to figure out a way to not obsess too much but still get back to where I want to be without the ups and downs of tracking my weight with the scale.

Effie 12 - are Lucky Jeans vanity sized? I haven't tried J Crew pants in many many years. So I don't know what I'd be...

I want to be a size 4 again also. I have been a size 18 to 24 for a couple of years now and I really would like to shrink back to a size 4 again. Of course when I was a size 4 everyone said I was too little and gained back to a size 8. The only time in my life when I felt sexy was at a size 4. I would have to get down to 120 or so pounds to fit back into my old pants. I still have the size 4 and size 6 pants I wore once.
Problem is at the rate I am losing it will take years to get there. I will continue struggling on though. I am not giving up this time. I may have lost 0 pounds in the last two months but I am going to keep trying. I exercise almost daily and stay within my calorie limit. I do not know what I am doing wrong but I am going to keep going because I remember how awesome I felt in size 4 jeans.
So size is defiantly something I keep track of. size 4 here I come, eventually!

Blue - I am having the same issue. It's not coming off nearly as fast as it used to. I'm not sure why but also discouraged. The scale is not really moving but the clothes are getting bigger. Go figure. That's a motivating post about continuing on and that's just what I intend to do.

Since sizes vary by clothing manufacturer, it isn't a very realistic goal.

I went shopping a few days ago for the first time in a while and was very surprised that I fit into a size 6 dress in several stores (Macys, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, NY&Co.). I would have said that being a 6 was my goal but I know I'm definitely not done. I suspect serious vanity sizing going on because when I was this weight in high school I wore a dress size 10, and I was way fitter back then. To confirm, I tried on the dress I wore for HS graduation (8 yrs ago), which was a size 10 from Macy's, and it fit about as well as the 6s did this week! Not really sure what to make of this except that I won't settle for a 6 in today's sizes.

My ideal size is 9. My lowest weight was 125 and I was a size 7 and looked like skin & bones.

Pfft! Sure it is! Numbers are used and they are hardly accurate. They weigh, bone, fat, tissue, skin, water, muscle. And it isn't like you can't change it. If you want to be a smaller size do it, If you want to be bigger do it! Numbers aren't accurate as much as sizes aren't. Just enjoy the journey and get healthy!

Sizes are too erratic, they vary by manufacturer, sometimes the same manufacturers sizes will vary depending on style. I have tops in my closet that are sized small. medium or large, they all fit. I can wear pants in a 4 or 6 and an 8 isn't too baggy to get away with. I stick to weight as a goal.
