Default OWWWW MY Tooth!

Anyone have any natural remedies for a toothache? My dental insurance seriously sucks and only cover about 20% of the visit. We do have some clinics in the area. I called figuring I wouldn't mention the husband or his income and would just use my income from unemployment. I called and they told me to bring $200 for the consult. $200? At a clinic!? An office visit at a private practice doesn't cost that much.
It doesn't hurt all the time, off and on but hurts terribly at night.
I've tried the listerine rinse, salt water, tylenol and orajel. Anyone know anything that works?

I am so sorry you are in pain, I would rather give birth than have bad tooth pain!! I have heard cloves work for some, you rub it on the gums, but I don't think it would work for a bad pain.

It is hard but I would say just go for the dental work, most of them will work out a payment plan, as long as you are consistent with payments. It will be worth it!

Place a raw clove of garlic on the aching tooth. I've had friends who swear by this remedy. Hope it helps!

I think clove oil works even better than the actual cloves. But it's only a temporary fix. If the pain keeps coming back, you better get it checked out.

Um, if you have an abscessed tooth please go get it checked.
I don't want to scare you, but I know someone who let an abscessed tooth go too long and she got an infection in her brain from it.
If it's waking you up at night, it should be checked by a dentist.

Hope you feel better soon!!

i feel for yah! i have a molar needing a root canal for over a year now. they tried doing the root canal but my mouth wouldnt get numb. got to go back the 20th to try again. i find brushing my teeth first sometimes helps. if it doesnt i rinse with a peroxide mouth wash for about a minute. then take two advils and finish up with orajel extra strength. that usually is what worked for me. hope it helps!!

I had a weekend of misery when my first wisdom tooth got infected (or the area around it, it's all a haze now). Personally 3 advil made the pain nonexistent for me. 2 did nothing, it had to be 3. But in trying to put it off at first, it just got worse. My gum ended up swelling into my cheek, not pleasant!

The cost of all that stuff definitely sucks but hopefully you can find a payment plan or something.

You might want to check into your regular health insurance too. They are all different but you never know. I had to pay for most of the dentist out of pocket, but got referred to an oral surgeon and health insurance kicked in for nearly all of that.

FYI, a dentist told me that Orajel and Anbesol are really bad products.

I hope that you can get to a dentist and work out a payment plan, $200 is a lot but there has to be another local dentist that can offer a better rate. GOOD LUCK and TAKE CARE!! Teeth are nothing to mess around with!
