Default Place to get GREAT goal pics.......

Ok so I just got this catalog in the mail today. Its for workout type clothes and its called Athleta

You have got to go order a catalog!!! They have HEALTHY looking, athletic women, with great fun clothes on. I tore out a bunch of pictures to put on cabinets, fridge, mirror, to use as goal reminders.

Just thought I would share....

I get this catalog for some strange reason, but have never ordered through them. Why is it that fitness clothes are so expensive anyway?

Marketing is the main reason. A product that fits a niche like this is more expensive because it is meant to be bought by only a small portion of the population.

What makes the prodution of good fitness clothes expensive are the following reasons:
a. The fabric must be elastic
b. The fabric must survive great strain
c. the fabric must absorb the maximum possible amount of sweat and "breathe"
d. The fabric must be confortable and not cause odd odours when it gets wet

and a few more like these. ALL clothes are sold at 180% of the manufacturing price though. What you really pay are the trucks that drive them to the store. Oil makes the world go round

I love these guys and there is a bathing suit that I want from them, but am having a hard time justifying $108 for a suit when I have a $15 one from wally world that works just fine. I am going to make some workout gear (including a bathing suit) from them one of my rewards for getting to my final goal, though.

FitGirlyGirl - your signature makes me smile!! Love all the fitness emotions =D

This is my goal picture:

and

Both hour glass shapes like me! Might not have THAT flat of a stomach but I sure would love it one day! I think it's important to have inspiration pictures that match your body type. It would be silly for me to have a picture of Rihanna on my fridge since we're so different in size.

See, I can't and won't do goal pictures like that because at 41, having two kids who gave me tons of stretch marks, and years of weight on this body, I will never look like a model in a bathing suit - even healthy looking bodies.

Same here, although I'm only 26, I have a huge amount of stretch marks and loose skin on the tummy. I may be the odd one out, but I hate "goal" pictures of models and celebrities. The way I see it... I couldn't physically look like my own sister if I tried and we have the same parental genetics, why strive to look like a complete stranger who has access to personal trainers, chefs, or are considered perfect enough to grace a magazine?

Striving for a certain image only leaves disappointment, IMO.

My goal pic is ME... I can't see the point in aiming for "somebody else's body"...

this is me, 6 years ago, age 42

Yup, trying to get back to that (had lost 30 pounds when that pic was taken.)

I agree with you Berry, this body is never going to look like a model in a bikini. Not to mention, there just aren't models who are 5'2" and stocky. I like BeachPatrols idea of going back to what I used to look like, but I'll have to dig pretty far back! Not sure my high school body is even a reasonable goal.

That store is owned by the same company that owns The Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy. I am guessing that the Athleta brand is geared more towards the Banana Republic shopper.

I get my work-out clothes at Walmart. I love their yoga pants, capris, bike shorts, & tank tops - and the Danskin brand. Looks nice, fits well, and doesn't break my wallet!!
