Not happy about that part BUT I am ecstatic to be pregnant again. I started my diet last month, was off to a decent start and a week or two ago, I find out I am pregnant. Any plus sizers been pregnant and not gain anything?
When I was pregnant with DD in 09 I didn't gain any weight but that was because of morning sickness, with DS I gained 20-30 lbs, then I gained about 30-40 lbs after he was born this year! I really cannot afford to gain that much weight. I am not going to starve my unborn or anything like that.

Congratulations on your pregnancy; here's to a healthy and happy 9 months.
I would suggest that you speak with your OB about getting a referral to a dietician who specializes in overweight pregnant mamas. You can eat healthfully while pregnant and you don't need to put on lots of weight during this time, and I've even heard of overweight pregnant women losing some weight during their pregnancies.
Congrats on your pregnancy! I'd suggest working on eating whole foods, and focus on what your body is telling you, eat when you're hungry, don't when you're not. Also, take your prenatals religiously and try and find an exercise routine that you enjoy and can stick with throughout. Good luck and take care of yourself! Oh, and prenatal yoga is wonderful for aches and pains once you get farther along!
Congrats! I was about your weight when I got pregnant with my son and I gained about 8 lbs total. My doctor monitored my weight and the baby's size closely to make sure that he was growing as he should be, but she was totally supportive of "mommy weight going to baby weight"
Congrats on being pregnant. My daughter is 8 months now and has gained like six pounds and she is close to 300. The one thing she has going for her is she loves vegtables (always has) and works hard at eating a ton of them. this is her third pregnancy and with her second she also gained 8 and lost 25 within the month of giving birth. She said she has to make a concious effort to eat healthy its hard but she does it. I think you ladies who do this inspire others and me too cause if you can do it then so can we. She lost her baby weight before she even left the hospital on the first two. I still have my baby weight sadly its been many years.
on a side note, for those of you who wonder why she doesnt just lose the weight while not pregnant, she use to be a normal weight but became a meth addict and when she quit meth she gained almost 100 lbs and now struggles to lose it. she's been clean 8 years, yay! also she quit smoking 4 years ago!
Thanks for the advice everyone and for the congratulations!
Ashley777-YAY for your daughter quitting Meth!! I have heard that is the hardest drug to quit. We lost my oldest brother 3 years ago this August to an overdose of Meth/Xanax.
When I was pregnant I lost 30lbs, and I wasn't sick at all. My metabolism just ramped up, and I was out walking more (shopping for baby stuff). My midwife could tell that my daughter was growing well (she ended up being 7lbs 13oz) so just said "I guess your body likes being pregnant".
Hi! I was 292 when I got pregnant, but I was 7 months along before I even knew I was pregnant! I only gained 8 lbs and my dd was 7 lbs 5 oz at birth (3 1/2 weeks premature!)- so I actually lost weight when you add in all the fluids..
My doctor said it was because my blood sugar had gone down by being pregnant - my dd was sucking up a lot of the sugar - which is why diabetics make big babies!
You have all the reserves your baby needs - don't get trapped into the eating for two - because really, in the beginning you are eating for yourself and something the size of a pea!
Congratulations! Enjoy the ride! (I regret not having known, but I wouldn't have wanted to wait 9 months long either! I "was pregnant" for only 70 days before she graced my life!)
You really shouldn't gain while pregnant. I gained 10-11 with my two (was 235 and 265 with each and with BOTH I gained 7 pounds in the last week due to major water weight. 3 weeks later, I was lighter (by a LOT) than when I got pregnant.
Just walk, be active and eat normally - which is really not much more than you would eat when you aren't pregnant).
Congratulations. There are plus sized ladies that do lose weight during pregnancy. Sometimes is due to the fact they are eating healthier for their unborn child.
I bet if you talk to you OB, you can get on a good diet plan that is healthy for you and your baby. I bet they can even give you a work out regimen that will help Good luck! I will be asking for some baby dust my way soon too!
