Default SBD Daily Chat for Friday, May 27

Hi everyone,
Happy Friday to you all. I'm so relieved about the conversation with my sitter. Her last day is Friday, June 25 and then there are two days of school the next week, and then camp begins immediately. I'll be picking my son up from the bus during the summer which is a straight 8 weeks. I'm also hopeful that my boss will in fact allow me to reduce my hours next year so I can pick him up 2x a week from school. We'll see, but I feel good about all these changes, like it's a fresh start. I'm also very happy for her about her pregnancy!

I need to set some personal goals for over the summer. All of a sudden I'm feeling very motivated to declutter. I think I might start with my hall closet! June is also going to be a month for me to refocus on my diet. My goal is 154 by July 4 weekend.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Yikes! Nearly the end of the month and my weight just took a major jump up. I suspect chicken wings and wine the other night may have had something to do with that! It sure was fun though. If I lived like a hermit I'd be skinny but what do you do when a bunch of pals show up at your door ready to party?

I spent most of yesterday (8 hours) chained to my desk doing forensic accounting on the Mill "books". I'm not sure if Simply Accounting really is but I refuse to go back to the quill pen and ledger method. Since it rained most of the day, it wasn't too difficult to stay at home but today I need to get out and move, rain or shine. I'm out of printer ink so a quick run to town will be the first task so I can print the Church bulletin.

There's another big weekend ahead - "Open Doors" at the Mill plus the first wheat grinding of the year will bring in lots of visitors Saturday and Sunday. Our little Church is throwing it's first ever dance on Sunday afternoon. Aside from making cookies for the Mill and sandwiches for the dance, I get to do Mill tours and work the bar at the dance. Yippee - I think!

So how does your weekend look? It'll be a long weekend for those of you south of the border.

Good morning, and TGIF!

Matilda, was your sitter planning to quit anyway, since she's expecting? It's really great how this situation turned out, and I'm very happy for her.

It's looking to be a beautiful weekend, weatherwise here, and I'm looking forward to our big cookout on Monday. My DD and DGD are coming out on Sunday after church and are sleeping over, and my SIL will take the train out after his show later that night. Jake has been working on getting the pool ready, and the grandkids have been calling almost every day to check on the progress. They'll be in there no matter how cold the water is, lol.

I have a few errands to run this morning and plan to stop in for coffee with Mom & Dad, but otherwise I just plan to have a relaxing day. I may take a book and a glass of iced tea and spend the afternoon on the patio.

Hi ladies!! I have done SBD 3 times before -- coming to this forum -- and I hope it is ok but I am baaaack! I feel a little silly for my back and forth but I know you are a great group of really kind people and I know SBD works, and so I hope you do not mind that I am here.

I had a scary day on Wed. My OB sent me for a not-so-routine mammogram (I'm 38) because of a health problem I was having...and I promised God right then and there if he saved me from cancer I would lose the weight once and for all. And he did! The mammogram was NORMAL -- thank goodness!!!

And so here I am -- I know it sounds hokey but I was ready already and just hadn't put all the pieces together. I am glad to be here -- I am looking forward to lots of success!

Good morning. I'm working out with my mom this morning then today is "shopping for perishables for the grad party" day. My husband has been spending his time working on the yard.

I keep thinking about all those yummy treats that will be leftover! Has anyone refrozen baked goods? I read online you can do so but they aren't as good. I was thinking I'd refreeze then take to a family reunion in June.

NataliesMom - You are always welcome! I've done it a few times myself.

I was just cruising through, reading posts and noticed your decluttering goal. Have you ever checked out flylady.com? I just started the program (again), it is a structured decluttering program and then once you are decluttered, you move on to detailed cleaning. There is a "zone" you are working on each week, but you also have your daily chores. My house is already looking much better. Check it out, it is actually fun and not overwhelming at all. 15 minutes a day decluttering m-f only.

Good morning I am packing for a trip to lovely Central NY to visit my parents this weekend. I don't know what I was thinking traveling through that area on a holiday but it's done. I haven't been there in a few weeks so it will be nice to check-in.

Still sticking to Phase 1 and really seeing a payoff. I'm not going to log a weight until Tuesday, my one week plus one day (and back home to my own scale) weigh-in. It's pretty obvious that my eating was bad because my body is responding very positively to a really clean Phase 1. In the meantime I've got some serious training to do before next week's AIDS Walk.

Bea - thanks for the tips! I walked about 3.5 Wed and almost 3 yesterday so I've got a good start.

Mathilda - I'm so glad the conversation went so easily. I'm decluttering this summer too.

Natalie'sMom - welcome back! How are the girls doing?

Ruth - another busy weekend ahead for you. I bet you make a great bar keep

Cottage - Enjoy your relaxing day today. Iced tea and a good book sound perfect!

Karen - My Mom freezes baked goods all the time with good results (so she says). Happy party planning

Okay, time to start packing and organizing things so I can get on the road soon. Luckily my parents now have WiFi so I will see you all from NY!

Good Morning

Busy days here! Wow! I got through all my events/meetings yesterday, however my food could have been better. I had cookies at the knitting event, but enjoyed them with the fresh yummy salads and said no to the sausage/hash brown/cheese casserole. I think that's progress...and I noticed that I definitely moderated with the cookies more than anyone else. Back to basics today.

We're getting ready for the pool then have lots of niggles today. DH has a dental appt at 6pm to have an unsaveable tooth removed. Then we start sending $$ out of our pockets for restoration. Oh well.

Have a great day everyone! Sorry I don't have a moment for personals. We received some stunning and hopeful information at DH's brain injury meeting last night. We've been talking all morning as he processes what the possibilities might be for him. We met with a biofeedback specialist who thinks it is possible to help him.

Natalie's Mom, welcome back! I'm glad to hear that you're responding positively to good news at the Dr. I love this group and the people here because it turns it into a 365 days a year thing. I check in every day and although I ate cookies at someone else's house yesterday I know I don't need to buy more and bring them home today. It's one day at a time which makes it far easier.

good morning,

Sorry ladies I have been missing. Its been such a busy week here.
When not gardening, I had a number of appointments. One of them was bloodworks and I just felt awful for a day after that.

Just a note to Karen, I always bake and freeze and have been very successful with that. Cookies freeze well and some even taste better frozen so beware.

Yea, the scale went down to 169.2 this morning, but not changing the ticker yet as I like to stay there for a while just to make sure.
Have a nice weekend everyone
take care
Sophie

Thanks so much everyone!

Cyndi -- the girls are great! Thanks for asking. Natalie graduates from KINDERGARTEN today! Amazing...they are growing and looking so forward to the summer.

Welcome back, Natalie'sMom! (and Gracie's too! ) You are always welcomed to come back, we even saved your beach towel for you!

Karen, as many have already answered you, baked goods can be successfully frozen. Just make sure you wrap them securely beforehand.

Debbie, that's great news about Kirk's brain injury, and I hope the doctor is right!

Cyndi, you are probably on the road by now, but have a safe trip and enjoy your weekend!

I usually check my grocery receipt in the store, but I was rushing this morning and didn't check it until I got home. Good thing I did, too! There was a $9 mistake in my favor. It meant that I had to run back to the store, but it was worth it for that. It sure took a big chunk out of my morning, though.

You can achieve 154 by July 4, OP, go girl! I'm doing well ladies and gents. I won't be on next week because of scheduling conflicts with my Clubhouse, so don't worry if I'm MIA!

Thanks Cottage! Summer is such a wonderful time on the beach, isn't it? Even if I am in Kansas without an ocean within even a day's drive! Ha!

Looking forward to lots of success!!
