My mind is playing tricks on me
So I want to know-do any of you see a difference in the scales, but not in the mirror? I have been counting calories for a a month and a half or so and I've lost about 8 pounds so far. It's great and I'm so proud of myself. I get compliments sometimes from family and co-workers about how they can tell I've lost weight. But, most days I don't see it. I know 8 pounds is not like I lost 50 pounds, but I want to see the difference everyone else seems to. I am terrified that I will ge to 110 pounds and not see any difference in myself than at 145. Does this happen to y'all? What do you do?

It can sometimes take a while for your mind to catch up with your body's changes. I'd really recommend you take some before photos and take an after photo with every 10 lbs. you lose, or however many you think....that way, you will see the difference. Also, clothes are a good indicator since sometimes the scale isn't that accurate about what's going on. Finally, don't worry about getting to 110 lbs. and not seeing the difference.....if you see those photos, you absolutely will see the difference! Great job, by the way!

8 lbs is a pretty substantial portion of the weight you're trying to lose, so I'm not surprised people are noticing. It's probably that you're just too used to seeing yourself. I think the photos are a good idea. It'll probably be easier to see more objectively.

Yes, and I agree with the others...the only way for me to tell is by noticing how clothes fit or by looking at before and after pictures...and same goes for when the scale stops moving temporarily...like right now (for me), can only tell there's a difference because my bra fits better!

I can't even tell by the pictures yet. I can tell with my jeans and I can see a difference when I suck my tummy in. But normal posture, belly relaxed I don't look a bit different. Hopefully that will change soon.

I think I will take a picture tonight maybe and compare it to an old picture of myself. Maybe that'll help me. See, one of my problems is that I'm wearing the same work pants that I was when I was 145. They are the stretchy black kind. They fit fine. But, they're loose in the bootie. Do you think that it's because they are elastic is why they still fit?

I've lost 30 pounds and dont see a difference. BUT I get really good at disguising my fat parts lol, so not seeing the difference is probably because I wasn't really lookin at my "before".

I've lost ~40 lbs and have yet to see the difference. My family hasn't commented on a difference in the way I look. I could see the difference in my father's weight loss, but my sister lost weight and I couldn't tell without the before/after pics. I HATE pictures, so I didn't take them. My clothes fit differently and the number on the scale has changed, so I know something is happening.
I don't plan to do anything except to continue. At some point, I'll have to see a difference!

Last night I took a picture of myself at about 133 pounds, and compared it to one I took at 145 pounds. There was a difference!!! I'm so excited. I could actually see it this time. I saw it in my face and my legs mainly. I'm going to take another picture at about 120, and then finally at 110. I can't wait to compare 110 to 145. I can't believe I am actually doing this. I'm so proud of ME!!

I have a pair of brown yoga style pants (with an elastic waist) that I have been wearing since I was at 295, and they still seem to fit just perfectly. Yet, I went to put on an old pair of jeans that a friend gave me 2 years ago, which never really fit that well even 2 years ago, and they are just slightly loose on me. The jeans are at least 2 sizes smaller than I wore before losing weight. Even with 30lbs lost, those elastic waist bands can FOR SURE mess with your mind!!
