Default SBD Daily Chat: Wednesday, April 20

Am I first?! Sure do wish I could sleep later. I double-checked to be sure I put down the right day of the week!

Working out with my mom again today; our trainer is heading out-of-town on Friday for the weekend. This is our last workout for a while since my mom is leaving on a cruise. Time to break out the P90X! Tonight we have an induction ceremony for our son into the journalism honor society. I think he is much more pleased about getting chosen for a class superlative: most likely to be on SNL.

BBL to see what is going on with all of you!

Good morning Karen!! I should really look into the P90X, I've heard such good things about it. LOL....most likely to be on SNL!!!

My birthday was great, thanks for all the well wishes. DH made crab legs and boiled shrimp, and a little bit o' food porn too!! (fresh bread...) He invited a few friends over, which was great. Really enjoyed the company.

The plan was to run 4 miles today, but I need to make it more like 14 after yesterday!! Otherwise, just work and children. ANd of course, enjoying coffee!!

What's on your schedule today?

Good morning Karen! Congratulations (again) to your son, for both the JHS and the superlative. I'll be watching for him on SNL.

I'm up early, too - and it's vacation week. I just can't sleep in no matter how hard I try. It's just as well though, I've got lots to do before we head to my mom's this morning.

Enjoy your Wednesday, friends!

ETA: Oh, the birthday girl sneaked in while I was posting! I'm glad you had such a nice birthday Tammy. Enjoy your run!

Good morning It's yet another chilly and rainy day enough already with the April showers thing!

So I love the new doctor. We spent an entire hour of her just taking history and getting to know me. She has a particular interest in healthy diet and fitness and she knows a lot about inflammation. She's also just a few weeks older than me She was unimpressed by the nodule, so very good news. I do have an ultrasound scheduled but it looks like a blip and I may not even need meds. One sad note, for some reason I've spent the last 35 years thinking I was taller than I am. That means my BMI isn't as all around awesome as I thought. One more reason to drop 10 lbs I guess (like I don't have enough reasons up and down my spine and knees!).

Karen - Wow, I admire the P90X people. Just hearing about it scares me

Tammy - Sounds like a lovely birthday! See, 40 isn't so bad

Heidi - I've been scanning rentals in Maine for our vacation week. It's a work week for you but hopefully we can figure something out!
I can't sleep in anymore either. I'm awake at 5:15 no matter what the plan for the day.

Debbie - Hope you wake up feeling better today!

So I think it's one more day at home on the phones. I am so looking forward to getting on the road again tomorrow!

Happy wet and windy Wednesday!

Good morning, Cheery Beachers! Nice to see folks up and at it early as I'm really having to push myself lately.

It's cold here and raining sideways! At least the windows on the east side of the house are rinsed off! This April does not bode well for the rest of the "good" season. The dog yard is flooded once again and the well in the garden is overflowing again too. Grrr! On a good note, my scillas are a sea of blue and the daffodils at the edge of the woods at the Church are in bloom so there's hope!

I'm off to the gym and then to town for some necessary shopping. I had planned this for tomorrow when the weather is supposed to be better but must go today as my new propane stove is arriving for installation. I sure hope it's up and working for the weekend as it's darned cold in that back room these nights. It's propane but looks like a wood stove to keep the summer kitchen look in that room. Lugging in wood this winter sort of did me in although my friends and neighbours were very good at keeping me supplied. Neighbour Moel has inherited the remains of my wood supply - three year old ironwood and maple. He is delighted!

How about a little Gord Lightfoot so we can "spring" into our day? (Watch the censor on this one. )
kittywillows, cat-tails, soft winds and roses
Rainbows in the woodland, water to my knees
Shivering, quivering, the warm breath of spring
kittywillows, cat-tails, soft winds and roses

There! I feel better... even with "kitty"willows.

Karen, thanks for starting us up. You are so fortunate to be able to work out with your mother. I bet that's a lot of fun and makes your workouts something to look forward to. BTW, congratulations to your son on his college selection! I imagine you'll be kept pretty busy trying to keep track of your sons on each coast!

Twynn, I'm glad you had a nice birthday. Your DH sounds like a real keeper to make such a nice celebratory dinner for you.

Heidi, will you be spending the rest of the week at your mother's? Have a safe trip and I hope you are enjoying your vacation week!

Cyndi, I'm glad you are liking your new doctor. She sounds like a perfect fit for you.

We had a blast at the aquarium yesterday, and the girls even persuaded me to pet a shark. I am just in awe of all the beautiful fish and sea creatures and could have watched them for hours.
This morning the girls and I will be at their grandmother's, and if it's not raining after lunch we'll go out on a trail ride.
I'm looking forward to "Survivor" tonight!

ETA -

Thanks for the cheery song, Ruth. I think most of us are pretty fed up with all this rain and cold.

Hi all,
A bit of a late start today. Got a call in the middle of the day yesterday from minicamp that my son wasn't feeling well. Given the recent scarlet fever, I went immediately to pick him up and took him right over to the dr. Turns out he now has another form of strep and we are on yet another antibiotic (and he is home from camp today, which means I am home from work). Sigh. I'm going to try to get in to see the dr. myself in case I am the carrier in the household. He was only off antibiotics for one day before this!

Awww, Matilda. I'm sorry your little one is sick again. I hope your doctor can get you both on the right track and get him to feeling better real soon.

Thunder, lightening, hail and now sleet/snow.

My friend Patty just put this as her facebook status:
Quote:
INSTALLING SPRING.. ███████████████ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░ 44% DONE Install delayed....please wait Installation failed. Please try again. 404 error: Season not found. Season "Spring" cannot be located. The season you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please check the connection and try again...
I'm starting to worry that this is true! LOL

Cyndi, I'm planning on chasing you down no matter where in Maine you end up renting. Okay, maybe that's a little dramatic, but I'm looking forward to finally meeting you in person.

Linda, we're going to stay at my mom's til Sunday afternoon. My son has to work so won't be able to get together with us over Easter weekend anyway, and my mom didn't want to come up here. I've got so much I need to be doing around my house and yard but I guess all that stuff will still be here when I get back.

Matilda, I'm sorry you and your son have had to deal with so much sickness this spring!

Heidi - it must be a Maine thing because a friend of mine who works for the state posted the same thing on his facebook You can stalk me anytime I'm in Maine! Hope we get together this time!

Mathilda - FWIW, we went through that with my DD when she was 7 or 8. She even got scarlet fever. They wanted to take her tonsils out but I resisted because she had never had that problem before. We did mega doses of vitamin C and it took care of it. Hope you get to the bottom of this!

Karen- I am 28 and I still believe I may be on SNL one day... that is my dream... keeping it alive!
Cottage- Last 4th of July we went to the Newport Aquarium in Kentucky, 5 minutes from Cincinnati and we got to pet a lot of cool stuff... the epitome for me was, I paid extra to get a close encounter with penguins (my all time favorite animal!) AND I got to pet them! But only with 2 fingers lol
MMC- I have had an almost constant UTI since September... it scares me to be on antibiotic almost constantly, but what choice do we have?

Last night we had severe weather all night and tornado sirens went off all night... I slept through it all lol Some of the schools are closed and the city 3 miles from my house has the roads shut down for driving other than emergency.
I had an interview in my company already this morning for a better position... keep your fingers crossed, or pray, or send good vibes, whatever you are most comfortable with... nothing can hurt! lol

Howdy everyone.. today is going to either be an exciting day or a day of disappointment.. my Bro and SIL are trying to get pregnant and today is the day they find out if this one will "stick". They have had a few losses...

On another note, I'm going to try to check in more often.. I hope it'll help keep me on plan!

So nice to have a place to just chat and be supportive of each other. I've been reading but not commenting much.

It is still morning here!

I just didn't get here this morning. I've been to our athletic club (pool closed) and to the grocery store. I think I can stay home for the rest of the day! My little switcheroo has been to try not having my morning smoothie until after I work out so I'm enjoying it now. Fortunately, my blood sugar levels seem so stable I can do that now. I haven't eaten since 630 pm last night.
My smoothie is extra delicious today:
frozen peach
fresh ginger
cucumber
purple cabbage
protein and greens powder.
It's cool , spicy and a beautiful color purple.

Karen, I wish you could sleep later, too. Enjoy your ceremony tonight. I'll have to get a tevo if DS gets on SNL since I'm never up that late!

Twynn, glad you had an enjoyable BD! I think you'd be a great p90X gal!

Heidi, safe travels and enjoy your time with mom. How are your moms doing?

Cyndi, glad you like your new DR. Maybe you were taller and are just shrinking a bit….I gained mine back after I got rolfed. Go easy on yourself, girl, your BMI is sure better than mine. Thx for kind wishes-I am feeling better today.

Ruth, thanks for the G Lightfoot redo...I know the song and it took me a moment to "get it". Nice getting a propane stove so you won't have to haul the wood next winter!

Linda, yes, I'm watching Survivor tonight...and a NBA playoff game which starts at 730. I'm trying to imagine you petting a shark!

Matilda, I'm so sorry to hear your DS is sick again. Take care!

linda(isnuts), now I'm imagining you petting a penguin! Sending good vibes, crossed fingers and prayers your way today for the better position at your company.

KickandKnit, Sending good vibes, crossed fingers and prayers your way today for good news for your Bro and SIL.

Rose(TallandThin), bea(ultimatebea), Pearlrose, Natasha, everybody else
I always read what you post later in the day...but for this earlyriser I get less and less functional as the day goes on. I'm just not very good at answering.

It is SO nice to finally get on here and read everyone's posts - it seems during a break from school I can never figure out how I ever have time to go to work! Here it is 11 pm . . .

I hope all who have been dealing with any illness finally kick it - I hope all of you working this week have a GREAT one - I hope all of you with snow and sleet send it packing - and I hope those of you with sun keep sharing it with Philly!!!!

I committed myself to trying to run a half marathon in August. I know, right? Who the heck runs in AUGUST??? Up to 4 miles so far, and have the plan set out to add a half or a mile various weeks between now and then. Anyone out there have a good training plan? I have done 5K's, but this will be the first time shooting for such a "serious" run. Mind you, it is a rock and roll half marathon, so MUCH music and laughter are supposed to occur . . . if you can breathe at all. We shall see (skeptical look).

Be well!
