Sitting on my hands
I had breakfast. I am not hungry. But...all I want to do is eat!! I am working on a less than thrilling project at work and I can't work on anything else because this is due today. So all that I can think about is eating. I am not craving anything in particular, I just want to eat for entertainment purposes. I have an apple that I could break out, but I just refuse. I am not hungry, just bored. This is a crazy feeling. Any other time, I appease this feeling with food. But not today, and as a matter of fact, never again. I am just going to have to deal!

Sandi, I think it is awesome that you are able to work through your feelings and determine that you are just bored and not actually hungry. This is something I have been working on since January and it really does help. So many times people eat out of anger, frustration, boredom, tiredness, anxiousness (I ate for every feeling -- LOL!!), and it helps to just take a step back and realize it's not that you are hungry, but you are just feeling an emotion. That is so awesome -- good for you!!

I fight this feeling 24/7 sometimes! Most times I just give in, so good for you resisting!!
Have you tried chewing gum? Doesn't really help with the emotional side, working around it, etc. But it does keep your mouth busy. . .

When boredom strikes at work - I get up and go to the bathroom, get up and walk around, take a flight of stairs, chew gum or brew myself a cup of tea. Those things always seem to help. I am finding I don't so much want food anymore when I am bored.

I'm having this issue right this very moment! I'm going to go make a cup of sweet tea to distract myself.

Ugh I totally know what you're talking about! Sometimes I'll push myself and say "if you are hungry in an hour then you can have the apple" or something like that. What always helps is drinking a huge glass of water. But boredom eating is the worst. Hang in there!

Oh, I hate this! And my boredom never wants veggies. My boredom is generally only satisfied with salty crunch.
I'm proud of you for ignoring it! I think you need to find something else to do, probably not even surfing here. At least for me, sometimes sitting in front of the computer reading even 3FC makes me crave junk.

I had to put a sign in my desk drawer saying "What you want isn't here ... take a short walk" ... so that only I see it and it's a visual reminder of HOW MANY time I'll open my desk drawer for a snack that's not there now.

What has helped me like crazy is chewing 'Extra Dessert Delights Gum'. They have mint chocolate chip, key lime pie, and strawberry shortcake! Only 5 calories and they just take the edge off cravings. Hope this might help

SO true!!
I eat a lot for "boredom" for lack of a better word, especially at work. I know it's boredom, because when I get "busy" the hunger often goes away.
A cup of tea can help me...

OH yes boredom eating is exactly what got me up to my high weight. I combat it with cups of tea and diet coke, and chewing gum now. I am not hungry, but I just want to eat. I have a desk job too and work on very boring reports that take forever, and to make it worse I work at home so no one even knows if I eat. It's tough!! But we can do it!
