Default Yeah, but...

I've really been beating myself up recently over my little setbacks and snail's pace weight loss. I know this is counterproductive, so this morning I began this page in my journal. It's called "Yeah, but..." Wanna play?

Every time I find myself thinking a negative thought about myself, my habits, or my progress, I'm going to follow up with a "yeah, but..." to remind of just how far I've come since January.

Here's how it goes.

Yeah, but I've kept off 20 pounds lost for over 4 months!

Yeah, but I am doing some kind of exercise almost every single day!

Yeah, but I can comfortably wear clothes that didn't come close to fitting last summer!

Yeah, but on the rare occasions that I choose to drink a Coke, it doesn't taste good anymore and I don't even finish it!

Yeah, but I don't insist on "lights off" anymore!

Yeah, but I can wear more form fitting tops and they look just fine!

Yeah, but I have no trouble getting in a minimum of 80 oz. of water per day!

Yeah, but I don't require that all of my shirts be long enough to cover my butt 'cuz it ain't that bad anymore!

Do yourself a favor and come up with some of these for you. And, hey, if you post them it may even help me come up with more for my own use as well! LOL

Yeah, but now I can wear a skirt without my thighs rubbing together so badly that I have to waddle like a duck by the middle of the day.

Yeah, but I actually crave water now instead of diet Coke.

Yeah, but I don't have that button indentation anymore when I take off my jeans.

Yeah, but I can feel my biceps and triceps now.

Yeah, but I'm 16+ pounds lighter than I was this time last year.

Yeah, but...

I don't let my mother bully me into eating her homemade desserts anymore. She asked me to pick up some frozen custard to go w/her blueberry peach cobbler on my way to her house just now & I said NO!

The pants I just bought 2 weeks ago are falling off my butt.

I don't drink my calories anymore (hardly ever, anyway).

I finally joined the gym & now I'm gonna kick some a$$ in the weight room.

Every piece of clothing that was tight last summer is fitting loose now.

I'm so pumped about exercising that I'm considering a brand new pair of tennis shoes. (I usually get hand me downs)

I make good choices when I go out to eat w/my friends.

GoddessJessica,

Good for you! When it comes right down to it, that's the one thing that really matters!!

Yeah but, I don't have to look through the Lane Bryant Catalog and only order the shirts that are 30-32 inches long because they're the only ones big enough to hang down and cover my butt and stomach.

Hee hee hee...MotherGoose...what you said reminded me of something my grandma said to my mom years ago. (My mom probably weighs in the neighborhood of 260, and she's about 5'3".) My grandma was telling my mom how she should wear a certain style to make her look thinner. My mom looked at her and said, "Well, ****, it's not like I would REALLY be fooling anyone now, is it?"

Jennelle,
Thanks for making me laugh..that was hilarious! I've been bummed out all day because I'm regretting the terrible choices and the binge I had over the weekend. I've been doing great for 6 months and all of a sudden I'm stuck at the same weight (or more) for 4 weeks now! Actually this past week, the scale showed I gained 2 lbs! I'm exercising more than ever and eating less. Thats why the gain was such a depressing discouragement.

Yeah But...I refuse to give up! Tomorrow I start back on track and I WILL get off this stinkin plateau!

This is for BethAnne.....

Yeah, but you have maintained your current weight for six months. (Maintenance is HARD!)

Yeah, but you are secure in your love for the Lord and you are also secure in His love for you (there's no greater gift, is there?)

Yeah, but you haven't totally thrown in the towel.

Yeah, but the fact that you are asking for help means you still have it in you to do this.

Yeah, but I can wear pantyhose under my dresses/skirts to work and not have my thighs rub a hole in them by the end of the day!

Yeah, but I can sit in a faculty meeting after school with all manner of snacks and not even be tempted by them!

Yeah, but my husband tells me all the time how great I look now!

Yeah, but my daughters see me choosing healthier foods and want to do the same!

Yeah, but I don't park myself in front of the TV as much as I used to!

Yeah, but I'm so used to eating less during the day that it doesn't even occur to me to pack a WHOLE sandwich for my lunch!

This is really helping me stay focused. Thanks for all the excellent additions that I can add to my own list!

Great game!

Yeah, but I haven't had these jeans on for 4 years

yeah, but even tho I've been on this plateau for 3 weeks now, I still feel better than I have in ages.

yeah, but my dh actually tells people how well I'm doing!!

yeah, but I'm proud of me too!

yeah, but even if I never lose another pound I still know I'm a good wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. I could be happy with that.
