Smile calorie counting- I made it through day 1!

Sorry guys, but I'm so proud of myself! I made it through day 1 of counting my calories and I wasn't even hungry! I track using the ************ app on my iPod touch and it has me sticking to 1200 calories a day. I did have a mid afternoon sugar attack but I just made myself a cup of tea and kept busy and didn't binge out on the ice cream in the house!

Making it through day one, is a huge accomplishment. I failed countless day ones. For me, I think day one and two are the hardest.

Thank you all so much for the support! I was pretty pumped about my baby step, but coming back here to such nice comments really, really made me feel awesome! So thanks!

Day 2 went well also, despite being the holiday of candy and chocolate! I really resisted temptation- I had a rice krispie treat, but didn't delve into all the chocolate lying around. It's funny how, since I started counting, I make decisions about food that I never did before. I'll turn down something I would have previously eaten because it doesn't seem tasty or satisfying enough, and I don't want to "waste" my calories. I'm hoping to make it a week at this point.

What do you guys do when you go over your calories for the day? Just forgive yourself and start again the next day?

That's exactly it, fresh start every single day. Some people do a weekly allotment, but I've found it's better to go day to day. You may also keep a journal to note why you ate more (exercise, stress, boredom, lack of planning) or under (stress, work, lack of planning, etc). Knowing about your eating patterns is a very valuable tool.

Good job and keep up the good work!
