30 Day Shred
I was looking at reviews about Jillian Michaels DVD 30 Day Shred which states that it will help you lose 20lbs within 30 days while on a diet.
For $9.00, that doesn't seem like a bad price for the DVD but I was wondering has anyone tried it??
What were your results? I plan on buying it tomorrow.

I only got to do a couple episodes from her 30 Day Shred series which were on the on demand channel on ExerciseTV on my tv. They are really fun and can be pretty tough the first time around but they're great in combination with my other workouts. I highly doubt sticking to it will help you lose 20 pounds in thirty days since they don't cause me to loose any more weight then my other tapes but I'd say its worth $9 just to have it.

Yeah, what Nia said...it is worth it, I have it and I love/hate it, lol
I personally don't believe if I did ONLY 30DS that I would lose a good deal of weight, BUT in combination with proper diet, lots more cardio and another weight session thrown in once a week, you would definitely get the results you are looking for. Her strength training is pretty good, she likes to mix it up with using your own body weight and hand weights.
Check it out on youtube first before you buy it, several people have posted clips, some even entire circuits (there are 3 circuits to each of the 3 levels) I just started level 2.

There is not special exercise. There is no special diet. There is no magical secret available anywhere. If you want an exercise DVD and are willing to spend $9 than go for it.
To lose 20 lbs of fat you will have to burn 70,000 calories more than you ingest. To do this over 30 days time means a daily deficit of 2333.
Unless you're extremely overweight this isn't going to happen.
I'm not saying this is a bad DVD what I'm saying it that the claims it is making are B.S.

I have the DVD and used it for its 30 days, but I didn't follow her eating plan because I would have freaked out. I can't follow someone else's eating plans, I have to do what works for me. I lost only 2 pounds because I wasn't counting calories or anything, but I lost over 6 inches which was pretty awesome. I thought it was well worth the $10 I spent at WalMart for it. It was challenging and I enjoyed it!

In general, is it going to help you lose 20 pounds? Maybe, who knows, but the real thing, is it fun?
Yup!
I did 30 Day Shred last year while I lived in the college dorms just because it was a good workout that I didn't need a whole lot of space to do. I enjoyed it.

I did it, and lost about 6 pounds, and I only ever could do the first half. I highly recommend it.

HA!!! I didn't catch the part John did...20lbs in 30 days???? I TOTALLY agree with him, I wouldn't put stock in that even with everything else under the sun (diet, more cardio, etc.) thrown in. On average, a healthy monthly loss of 10 lbs is darn good and if you do that, you are doing great! Remember, this is not a race, and anything that promises quick weightloss is either a)probably dangerous, b)not for the long-term or c)lying.
I am a little disappointed that this DVD is marketed in that respect...however, I still like it and anything that can get you moving is good.

My experience with the 30 day shred was that the more noticeable change was in inches lost rather than weight lost. I didn't do the full 30 days, but my weight loss was on par with my average weekly loss, but inches just melted off my midsection and butt.

I agree with Peanutt! The difference is more in inches lost than that much weight. I lost about 10lbs doing the 30DS on about 1400 calories a day. I also jogged like twice a week, but that was it. It's a great program especially at the price!

Is it possible that someone once lost 20 pounds in 30 days while doing this? Well, sure. They probably began extremely overweight, ate extremely clean while doing this, added extra cardio, and had not been eating well or exercising at all before they started.
Will you lose 20 pounds in 30 days? Almost certainly not.
Is it a decent workout DVD? I think so, and definitely worth the $9.
