Default Teenage Cousin Wants Surgery

Hey everyone. So I've been thinking very seriously about lapband surgery, which is one of the reasons I joined this group--to get information and inspiration. Well, yesterday I was talking about it to my cousin who is seventeen and weighs even more than I do. She knew everything and more about lapband surgery, which shocked me. She told me she read a new novel (young adult) called Teenage Waistland. She calimed she read it twice, and wanted to lend it to me. So, I just started it last night and it's really engaging. It's about a group of teens who are in a trial study to get lapband surgery. My cousin can't get surgery until she's eighteen, but this book has given her hope. I'm hoping by reading this, I can even become more familiar and comfortable with the process (even though my teen years are long gone). I'll let you all know how it is!

I'm glad you're enjoying the book, but the idea of it kind of sits really, really, really wrong with me.

Was the writer paid by the makers of the lapband?

This. The book sounds very interesting, but sounds like a $15.00 advertisement.

It makes me wonder if there are any weight loss centered novels for young adults that are about a group of friends losing through diet and exercise. If so, I'd love to pick a few up just to feel out! Is anyone familiar with any?
