Default 4 months starts NOW

First the good, awesome, blissful and exciting news: We found out today that we are APPROVED for adoption and are now on the waiting list for a child.

The other part, that many of you know about is that by the time we receive a referral or assignment of a child, we have to both be off the obesity range on the BMI chart. This is a Korean child, and this is a requirement of this agency in Korea. We both agreed to do this, and could have adopted a different way if it offended us.

So, that said, we are told it is 4 - 6 months until we can receive a referral. I thought things would move a lot faster (yep, I'm new to International adoption!) and was telling you in January that I needed to lose the weight (about 27 pounds) by May. Now that things have slowed down, I have until September at the earliest to lose that much.

So, that's the good news and the deadline update. I wasted most of Jan, Feb, and half of March, so now it's time to get serious.

I'm thinking a good point standing in the April, May, June and July challenges will get me there!

Congrats!

What wonderful news! You can make that 27 pounds! No problem!

Try eating Kim Chee, that'll make you lose a lot of weight My Korean Aunt used to make me eat it every time we visited her. BLECH!

I would lose weight if I just made the rule to be in the same ROOM as Kim Chee at mealtimes! That stuff SMELLS!

I used to live in Japan and a lot of people eat it there. Ack! We want to teach our child about his culture, but we may keep Kim Chee a secret for a long time!

Congratulations! I know you can do it. I have an adopted Korean son, and he's my pride and joy.

He was naturalized pretty late (at 12) and because the Koreans count the date of birth as year 1, my son got to choose whether he wanted his birth date to make him 12 or 13. Of course he chose 13, but at 31 he's now regretting that choice!

Angie,

I know just how wonderful it is to finally be where you are -- with all your paperwork done and waiting for a referral. Congratulations!!

Just keep thinking about that child as you work to lose weight!

Peace,
Paula (who is adopting 2 siblings and waiting for them to come home)
