A couple weeks ago I went on a volunteer trip to an orchard near where I live to help them harvest apples. They let us pick some of the spotty ones to take home with us, so I picked out about a dozen. They mentioned that these (Pippin) apples are great for applesauce, so I looked online for a simple recipe with no sugar added, and found this: http://www.food.com/recipe/quick-hom...r-added-201473
I am pleased to report that it did indeed come out really well. I omitted the nutmeg and used 2 tsp lemon juice instead of two lemon slices and it worked out great! Cooking rocks!!

Awesome; I love applesauce. This reminds me.. I have a number of tart cooking apples that I need something to do with and I tried a great recipe recently for baked applesauce. For the sweetener is just a tiny bit of maple syrup, and it's seriously the best applesauce I've ever had. This post has inspired me to make some again soon!
