Protein- raw or cooked weight?
Hello!
I'm beginning the IP diet this week, and the one thing I completely forgot to ask is whether the 5 oz of dinner protein means: 5 oz raw or 5 oz cooked.
Thanks! I'm excited to get started and will be reporting in my losses soon.
I am wanting to lose between 15-20 lbs total.

There has been quite a discussion about this.....you might want to clarify with your coach, but I think the concensus is 5 oz cooked weight for meat, and 7 oz cooked weight for seafood. Works for me!

I was told raw weight, and that's what i use. So I usually eat fish, as I want a bit more food, if possible.

In my paper says, raw too as well, but I ask my coach to make sure and they said raw, both meat and veggies.

Weighing raw meat just does not make sense. So much fat and water is cooked out that you would be down to 3 oz. of protein if you're using meat.
My sheet actually specifies that VEGETABLES are to be measured raw, but the fact that it doesn't say so for meat logically follows that it is to be measured cooked.

Ok I dont know about shellfish since I dont eat seafood except for a serving of 6 scallops which is ok, but for fish(7oz), meat (5oz)and veggies 2 cups, and it has to be raw prior to be weight, at least in my clinic is like that.

wow it seems like all the coaches and clinics administrations have to make up their minds, with the way this diet has to be followed.

My clinic says cooked I asked again yesterday. The reason being, as stated by amylew, that raw weight 5oz would become VERY little cooked!! eeekkkk Would not be enough for me

always has been 5 oz cooked protein, 2 cups total volume veggies pre-cooked- 2 cups of cooked spinach-blah!
at least that's what i learned earlier this year, seems IP is changing a bunch of their packets so it may be different now ofr proteins..?

Im pretty sure each coach is a little different but ive been using the 5oz cooked. i find it makes it a lot easier since a lot of meat is packaged in 5oz to begin with.
