Height: 6'2

Default Gained 10 pounds..

From the distance to my goal weight! (since I lowered my goal once again)

As usually happens when I get close to goal weight I re-evaluate where I am and what I look and feel like and then decide to lower it some more. Even 180 is on the upper end up my BMI. For my height, I've googled around and most people seem to think an "ideal" weight is 170-175. I definitely want to drop 10 more pounds and then do another assessment.

Sounds good to me, I know you'll get there.

Just please make sure that it's not you trying to hold onto the losing process... Just puttin' it out there my friend. You of course know you and your body the best.

It is hard to know where you want your final goal to be when you still have a ways to go. Now that you are so close to your goal, I can understand wanting to fine tune things. But don't get too skinny!

Next hurdle is getting below 190. I've been hovering 2 - 5 pounds above it for a while now even though I've been on plan. I think soon there should be a whoosh that will bring me into a new decade

170 to 175 for a 6'3" guy sounds really low to me, I ain't no doctor.

I do wish you health and happiness.

Yeah, this. Didn't want to be the first to say it.

Have you had a doctor's consult? Just wondering. I know it's taboo around here to go against the grain and dare to tell someone they may be shooting too low, that it's your body, yada, yada, yada. I AM only looking at numbers, of course, and the few pictures you shared with us. But Matt...ahhh...I just hope you consult a doctor about your skin issues because I swear your skin weighs as much as you want to lose!! If you took that into consideration I think your goal is too low.

Sorry.

No need to worry about saying it first, I did so, though subtly () posts earlier.

Matt, see how many people you've got rooting for you!! We just all really want the best for you.

I agree with everyone! I just wanted to add that you do look fantastic to me in the picture. You just do so that's that.

With regards to BMI, I really think it's crazy. I can trust the numbers for women, but for men, they just don't seem right. I knew a guy who was in top physical shape but quite muscular and he would have weighed in as overweight or maybe obese, not sure. I could be wrong and if I am, sorry. I just think BMI for men is just not a great indicator.

I agree. When I met my husband, he was around 180 and looking too thin (he's 6'3", too). My understanding is that BMI is even less accurate for people above 6 feet tall than it is for the rest of us.

Matt...you know how to play a joke, guy.

I think 170-175 seems kinda low. But, if you are like some folks that I know that have lost such big amounts of weight- they have some excess skin. I don't know how you stand in this aspect. That is something that you can't lose. But, of course, it's counted in your total weight. Check with your doctor is you think he's knowledgeable in this...or a reg. dietition.

Do what feels right. We are always rooting for you.

First off, thank you all very much for your kind words. You are like family here and I totally appreciate the concern. I'm definitely not going to do anything unhealthy. It is hard to see in pictures but there really is more than just loose skin and I do believe the loose skin will actually be improved a bit if I lower my body fat percentage. I think the fat sort of gives the skin weight and makes it hang down lower than it would otherwise.

The healthy BMI for my height goes even as low as 150 before you start getting into the "underweight" category. There is no way I'd ever even get close to that.

I really want to see what 180 looks like and what my body fat percentage will be.

<3 ya all and I appreciate your comments. If I ever do get to 180, it will be a long way away since I've only lost about 2 pounds in the past month
