Default 2 Weeks from Today

I will be walking in my first 5k. I was planning to run in it before my family got the plague in September. But now I'm walking it and that's okay. It will still be my first 5k, and I will still have completed my first 5k when I'm done. The time will be longer than I'd planned & hoped, but it will be something to work toward beating as I move forward with my life change.

Sorry if some think this is in the wrong sub-forum. I just know that no one else would understand the dynamics and fears of doing a 5k at 87.2 pounds over my body type ideal like the people here would. If the mods feel the need to move it, I totally understand.

I will be doing my first 5K on November 13th. It has taken me 7 months of walking/running to get where I am and I will still be doing walk/run intervals. It doesn't matter how long it takes you to complete it as long as you do it. Congratulations on taking that first step. I have been a nervous wreck since I sent in my registration but I know I will feel awesome afterwards!

I'm hoping to do my first 5K on New Year's Eve (the Resolution Run). I'm not sure yet if my doctors will ok it. But I'd love to hear how it goes for you - I think it's great to read about activities like this from 3FC members!

Good for you! I will be eager to hear how you do and how you like it! I did my first 5k in April and I weighed then about the same as you do now - so try not to have too many fears doing it!

I have done 2 more since then and am doing another on Sunday... they are so much fun!

Thanks ladies I said something on FB and someone replied that it was a bit silly to waste the registration fees for a 5k to 'just walk it like a turtle' Which was kind of a bummer but at the same time, whatever they want to think, it's not their money, kwim? Same person who said it quit exercising the day he got out of the military over 20 years ago and has a larger waist than I do despite being taller and supposedly smarter/better, kwim?

I'm planning to go to the gym tonight for Zumba, and will do a mile or two on the treadmill afterward assuming I'm still upright {first time back at Zumba since June}I had planned to go for a walk this a.m. but had a rough night with a swollen wrist so I didn't wake up with the alarm so I'll have to try that again tomorrow.
