Default Good stuff

I went to goodwill yesterday to drop off a bunch of big bags of clothes and to try and find a few things. I don't have any size 14 and my 16sare getting too big. I decided to do goodwill because buying stuff for a short period of time (surgery makes me not stay in sizes too long) seems silly and I am broke.

Anyway. I grabbed a bunch of 14s and tried them on. They all looked too small, but they fit! Snugly, but not so snug I can't wear them. I even got a pair of 13s on! I got about five pairs of pants, two shirts, and a dress.

And I finally moved past that whole "it fits and doesn't look awful, so I will get it." I only got flattering things because I realized that I didn't just have to look okay anymore, I can look cute.

I commend you for trying things on. My friend Kathy lost 200 pounds but she told me that the biggest turning points in her weight loss were the day she started to try cloths on in stores and then the day she realized that she could try cloths on a REJECT them even if they fit her!

I love goodwill! I take my work cloths to "Dress for Sucess" as they are always desperate for larger sizes, but now I have a bag right on top of the drier that that I toss any other cloths into as soon as they are too big. When it's full I drop it off at Goodwill.

In June I started shopping there for the first time since I was in college. I have found some really nice cloths and except of one dress for $12.99, nothing has been over $7.99.

I got a silk knit top and a cute blouse that I especially I liked. I was sorry to have to put them into the donation bag this morning but they are already way too big for me... but at least I didn't pay retail!

We get 90% of our clothes there. We have a really nice thrift store and it's CHEAP. $3.00 is a nice outfit with tags. Most things are $1.50 and less. The only problem is you can NOT try things on. That's hard with vanity sizing. I often end up with things that should fit, but don't. So I have actually taken to Target and Kohls for pants needs. That way I can try them on because not all pants fit like they used to, if you know what I mean. It's not good enough that they go over everything anymore. I have a pair of black slacks and a pair of jeans for Fall. That's it. This going between sizes thing is hard! But fun!

Our goodwill has fitting rooms, but not many. I had to wait ten minutes while some old lady tried on COATS in there. Come on.
