I finally started making myself drink the water. I hate water, but I've been making myself drink all of it for the past three or four days. I feel really queasy and nauseous after drinking even the first 16 oz. I'm drinking it maybe 4-8 oz. at a time.
Does anyone else experience this? Will it go away? Is there anything I can do? I hate water.
I hate drinking water. I don't know what it is about it, but I can't seem to make myself drink it. So I don't. I drink iced tea all the time and an occasional Coke Zero. I have really tried to cut down on the soda. So far I don't think it has affected my weight loss. I have lost almost 7 pounds in the last two weeks. But I am sure it affects everyone differently.
I decided that I learned to drink coffee without sweetner of any kind - cream only - after my DEXH developed kidney problems, and that I can learn to cut my consumption of artificially sweetened beverages of all kinds. I've cut carbonated sodas of all kinds out of my diet, and after three weeks, I don't miss them. I do miss Crystal Light, iced tea, and Tropicana Orange drink. The only way I've been able to not drink them is not to have them in the house. Since I live alone, I can totally control what's here and what's not. Really, the only things to drink in my house right now are water, coffee, and the contents of the liquor cabinet.
But I'm not happy about it, and I'm not sure I want to continue. I read a post suggesting that artificial sweetners were a "stall" for her, so I'm experimenting right now. The next time I go to the store, I'm buying a lemon or two and adding lemon juice to my water.
Veteran Atkins ladies: Any thoughts or suggestions?
Drinking a lot of water not only makes me nauseated but also makes me panicky with a feeling like I'm drowning....especially if it's not ice-cold. I have no idea why....maybe I WAS actually drowning in the past, and swallowing large quantities of water.
So, just like another poster said here....I drank my water in the form of coffee, diet soda and a version of crystal light made by 4C that is made with Splenda rather than Equal. I'm not a huge fan of soda....so didn't drink much of that....but did mainly drink the coffee and the 4C and still had no problem losing the weight.
Thank you, Deena, that makes me feel better. I'm going to try to learn to drink water, but knowing you were successful with it in other forms makes me hopeful. I've been squeezing a lemon into it and drinking it very cold; that helps.
Drinking water doesn't bother me at all, and I prefer it at room temperature. It is pretty boring, so I drink unsweetened herbal teas and such pretty regularly.
I use a carbon filter and then take the filtered water and purify it through a Travel Berkey water purifier. It tastes really clean. Before I got the Berkey, just having the carbon filter helped.
If you are drinking city water, and it tastes unpleasant, a good filtering/purifying system could be a big help.
