Another rite of passage
I have read posts in the past about people whose friends or coworkers start suggesting that they've lost enough. In the last two days - and mind you, I'm still 189 lbs - I have had two co-workers comment. One said she almost didn't recognize me and there was hardly any of me left, and the other started checking for hollow spots in the cheeks and telling me that I didn't need to lose another ounce.
It must be some sort of weight-loss rite of passage or something. Unfortunately I can't hide the loss anymore than I could put the extra 80 lbs in my pocket where no one can see - so I guess I'll have to learn some graceful responses to this sort of thing.
Go figure.

HAHA! My friend recently told me that she was concerned that I was "too skinny".

Hello! Congrats on all your weight loss!! Alright, in your coworker's defense... I lost about 25 lbs and my face was a little sunken in and a picture of JUST my face suggested I was really skinny. The rest of my body, lol, it had a ways to catch up. Now I've maintained my weight for a few months and my face has filled out a little again. So maybe you do look a little sickly, but you can meet your goal weight and after a little time, you'll be glowing. Good luck!

Just got this yesterday for the first time. I'm not even in the normal BMI range, still overweight but was warned I need to "be careful not to lose too much". Thanks to reading 3FC I was expecting it and already had my non-response planned.

Am I looking forward to this or dreading it? LOL! I start school back up in a few weeks and expecting something of a similar nature. I've lost 20 rather body altering pounds over the summer.

yup, it's much easier to have a few pat answers at the ready otherwise you're standing there arguing with someone over how fat you are?! what the?! LOL I always say "oh, just toning up the jiggle that's left" that usually satisfies anyone lol

yeah...I think I gave something back about healthy weight ranges. I'm still 20 lbs over the high end of the normal range for my height. My face is certainly not sunken or hollow! I still have an extra chin...
I'm beginning to think that this must mean that I'm getting close to where I need to be. If you look that much different to people, perhaps their thought is to caution you not to diet to disorder.
I suspect I'll get this a lot for the next few weeks as folks are coming back on campus for the fall semester!

I just got this from several people at my family reunion. I had two responses, one nice... one kind of bratty...
Nice: Thank you for noticing but my doctor still says I have more weight to lose before I'm at my healthy BMI.
Bratty: Wow, it's pretty amazing how concerned you are about my health now, nobody told me to stop GAINING weight when I was heavy and dangerously unhealthy!

Congratulations on your weight loss!! I have noticed that there is a period of "body evening out" that happens after people lose weight--my sister lost a lot of weight a few years ago, and now my husband has had surgery and has lost 65 pounds in the last few months. It does take a bit of time to visually adapt to their new, thinner looks, especially in the face. And eventually, my sister's face/body sort of adjusted, and she looks great, AND my mental picture of her adjusted, too.
Now, I'm thinking I can't wait for someone to say to me, "Don't lose too much!" I'm afraid I'm going to fall out just from the joy of it. :-)
