I completely understand your frustration. Healthy food is definitely more expensive than less healthy food. Keep in mind a few things that I have been trying to remember. When you eat less, you buy less, so you spend less. It doesn't hurt to get the entire family involved in eatting better and less. Also do simple things like doubling the amount of veggies you eat and cutting the amount of meat you eat in half. It's a money saver and it's better for you. Little changes go a long way! Don't get discouraged and good luck!!

Good for you! You mention the expense of healthy food...have you tried to see if their is a local farmers market around? Often times they will have very reasonable prices on local produce. I frequent a local farm that sells produce out of a barn. They literally pick it in the field and bring it into the barn for people to purchase. I usually can get around 4 bags of produce for $15.00. Way cheaper than the grocery store. Just an idea.

Great going, and good luck continuing! I should get a plan, and soon. So far I've been subsisting on trying to eat healthier foods, and getting more of that healthy food info, but I don't have any type of plan, I'm just winging it. I'll need to look into an actual diet plan.

But you seem to be doing great! good luck, and keep it up!

Healthy food isn't necessarily more money than unhealthy foods. We were doing take out a lot back in the day - that adds up quickly. Processed foods, convenience foods - also very expensive. Boxed cakes, cookies, ice cream, chips, soda - big rip offs.

Each week the big supermarkets (don't know if you have these in your area) have sales - cottage cheese, yogurt, chicken, canned tuna and salmon, high fiber cereal, frozen vegetables. Eggs are inexpensive as are dried beans. In season fruits and veggies. You've got to be creative!

I also look at any money spent on keeping me at a healthy weight as an investment in my future.

I agree with robin, whenever I've bought unhealthy binge foods it ends up costing me like 20-30 dollars for a few items, while I can buy enough food for the week that's healthy for 60-70.

Congrats on getting through those first few days! It's tough, but you are pushing through.
