Default Acquaintances Snubbing Me

I've noticed lately that a lot of acquaintances that I see out and about are snubbing me, or acting snobbish. But then I got to thinking, they don't recognize me! I've noticed this several times in the last month or so, I'll say hello to someone I've known for years and they'll barely say hello back. Then later they'll walk up to me all friendly and say, "wow you look great, what have you done?!"

Have any of you found this to be happening to you too?

YES! This happens all of the time to me! Most people will actually admit to not having recognized me, though. I'll say, "hi" to someone and they'll give me an awkward "hello" back, then about 20-25 seconds later they're like, "OMG it's YOU" lol!

It used to be somewhat offensive. I know it's not their fault but I'd like to think that I still look like the same person. When I was heavy, I had high self esteem and I especially liked the way my face looked. Every time someone doesn't recognize me, I start to worry that my face has changed for the worse.

However, I think people just look at the whole picture. When you say "hi" to them, they try to match you up to someone they know; they look at the WHOLE you, and when the new you doesn't match anyone they know, they need to think harder and look more at the specifics rather than the general body.

Congrats on your progress, apparently it really shows!

I'm glad you realised what it was and didn't take it too personally They must all feel pretty silly for not recognising you, and you must feel pretty great!!!!

Haha, Susie! Great job! Has happened me in the reverse...no one recognized me because I got so very heavy & I was always thin when they saw me. Your experience is much better than mine was! lol

Hi Susie!
There was another post similar to yours within the last month. This must be a common occurrence ....not being recognized. This is a great problem to have! Congratulations on your progress!

Neat NSV.

I started my journey in September, so I lost the bulk of my weight over the winter underneath bulky, poorly-fitting clothes. When Spring came and I left the house in properly sized clothes, our next door neighbor asked DW if "Bill's brother was visiting?" LOL.

I wish I had that problem as I am a very private person. I live in a small town and have for the past 25 yrs, people are always coming up to me and talking to me as they recognize me, guess I have that face plus I tend not to gain a lot in my face so it never changes.... for me I just smile and nod my head being as pleasant as possible
