Talking Do you count fresh fruit and veggies?

I was just wondering if anyone doesn't count fresh fruit and veggie calories? I have been counting them into my daily total but wanted to know if anyone doesn't?

I absolutely do, but I have a fairly high calories limit. I know they say no one gets fat on carrots, but I bet I could STAY fat on carrots. It takes less to stay there, and I can overeat anything.

I count them. The only thing I don't count sometimes are tomatoes, mushrooms and onions since they have so little calories.

I do. I started tracking my eating initially to get more fruits and veg into my day, long before I decided to lose weight. So that's something I still concentrate on and it serves my calorie counting as well.

I do. Unless its celery or another teeny calorie veggie. I count everything I can, including my water, just so I can keep track of how much I've had, I'm trying to get to 120 oz a day!

Yes, I count every calorie that I consume. If I need a snack at the end of the day I eat some low calorie veggies like celery or lettuce, but even those 8 calories count for something!

I count everything. I could see letting veggies slide, especially salad greens and things like that but fruit can add up pretty quick.

I count it all, but if I'm not too careful with my measurements on the really low stuff, like lettuce and cucumbers, I don't worry about it. I'm much more precise with starchy veg, though.

By the way, we have almost exact starting weights and ending weights! You probably look much thinner than me, though since you're way taller LOL. I remember when I started, it seemes such a long road, but it has gone by sooo quickly! I look forward to watching you meet your goals! Keep checking in here, it has kept me going over the last 6 months!

I've always counted fruit, because I can eat a lot of fruit, and fruit has about 70 calories per serving - I still base my idea of servings on those I learned in exchange counting when WW was an exchange plan (prior to 1997). I've been following exchange plans since I was 8 years old, so it's a habit to translate any diet plan I'm following into an exchange plan. Even going low-carb, I just swapped out starch exchanges for protein exchanges.

I've also followed a lot of plans that didn't count some vegetables. So, I still sometimes think of vegetables like lettuce as "free veggies."

I like exchange plans for calorie counting, because it helps me keep my diet fairly balanced, but I consider all my other exchanges (protein, starch, fat, fruit, dairy) as maximums, and my veggie exchanges as minimums. So if I've checked off all my exchange boxes for the day, and I'm still hungry, I consider it still "on-plan" to choose another serving or two of raw vegetables (at 25 calories less per serving, it's not going to make or break my plan).
