Talking New Here!

hi everyone,

I've been looking at this site for months now and I finally decided to join today. I started Phase I of the South Beach Diet yesterday. I have tried this diet in the past and lost weight on it. however I cant seem to stick to it. once I let myself cheat a little I give up. Hopefully joining this site will help me stop doing this and finally lose the weight I want to.

I know that I dont have too much to lose but I have been relatively thin for my entire life. Since I went to college I have gained about 30 pounds. Even though most people tell me I still look the same I think there is a big difference in the way I look now. Mostly I just want to feel comfortable with the way I look again.

I'm looking forward to participating on this site!

Welcome Kate!
I started yesterday even though I am not new to the site. Would love to compare notes with you and menu's

How did your first day go? I was so nervous about starting I can't bring myself to get on the scale, I am going by what my dr. weighed me a few weeks ago and will do an official weigh in after my 2 weeks on phase 1

Hey Kate! I am a newb to this site as well, and currently on SBD, deciding to stick to Phase "1.5" before I head to Phase 2. We seem to have similar stories, I too never really had to worry about my weight until the 40 lb weight gain I experienced in college. It is true what they say... so much harder to lose than to gain! I've been trying for almost 1 year since I left college now! Good luck on SBD P1!

Side note: Is that your dog in your pic? (S)He looks a lot like my dog Bender. He was supposed to be a mini bulldog but ended up with a little bit of boxer in him, so he doesn't have the flat face, but his markings are very similar to the dog in your pic! Not the best pic, but check it out...

Hmm, not sure if that worked... the "post preview" doesn't show the pic. Hopefully it comes through when I actually post it!

Thanks everyone for welcoming me to the site! Its great to hear that people are so friendly and willing to offer advice.

Nancy- My first 2 days on SB have been fine. How have the first couple of days been for you? Ive been able to stick to it and hopefully ill be able to for the next two weeks. I also dont want to weigh myself. I find that when I'm trying to diet Ill weigh my self all the time and then get discouraged when it seems like im not losing. I think I'm going to try and wait 2 weeks also.

Kelly- your dog is so cute! The dog in my pic isnt mine but I chose it because it looks just like my boyfriends bulldog
