Default starting sb

I have a 3 mth old and a 2 yr old and my house is on the market. I have a terrible addiction to bingeing on carbs in the evenings mainly. I have hypoglycemia and pcos so I need to detox from carbs. I even have a reaction when I eat a bowl of oatmeal and a egg. This is going to be a challenge since I have to eat out more than I would like. With our house on the market I cant depend on cooking a meal all the time. I can be called to be told we have a showing and have an hr to get me and the kids out. I will be reading all the stickies to learn more. I need to go shopping later. I need to lose 15 pounds to get to goal!

to the Beach! You certainly picked a challenging time to be starting Phase 1, and I hope you are prepared for it. Phase 1 can be difficult to follow if you are having to eat most of your meals out because there is so much hidden fat and sugar in some seemingly innocent foods. A simple thing like a grilled chicken breast is usually basted in butter to make it taste "better", and sometimes even has sugar in it. By no means am I trying to discourage you, but please do take this into consideration and do as best as you can. Hopefully you'll be settled into a new home soon and will have better control over your diet. Good luck, and we look forward to having you join us here!

Welcome to the beach. Phase I will take care of all those cravings for carbs. You do have a challenge of eating out. I don't eat meat so usually my going out meal would be a Greek salad or broiled fish and vegetables.

Good luck and keep us updated.

So what can you eat out thats on phase one? I figure at least I am doing better than downing a whole box of graham crackers etc. I like tokyo joes they have good lettuce wraps that dont have any carbs except veggies. I will have to ask about there ginger dips. I figure even if I can only do it a week I will be better off than I was before.

In our FAQ section, we have a sticky on the most up-to-date Phase 1 approved foods list. If you haven't already done so, I strongly advise that you get a copy of the book and read it thoroughly, too. It has valuable information that explains the fundamentals of this plan, and you'll understand exactly why you should avoid certain foods. It's an easy, interesting read, and most libraries carry it so you won't have to buy a copy.

hi Lana!

SBD allows you to eat out while still being on plan (OP) in Ph1. Check out our sticky post on Fast Food - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sbd-...ood-guide.html - and this thread as well - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sbd-...rs-houses.html

Dr. A wrote a book about Dining Out as well (see my avatar, heh). Remember though, this way of living is not about carbs, but good for you foods that avoid bad starches and sugars.

Beans, soups with a broth base, chili (though sometimes high in fat), lean meats and fish are your friend!

I am on vacation and have been eating out lunch and dinner everyday. It is a challenge. I have had a lot of salads with chicken on top!

I really don't have time to read the book. I have read some of it before. I have a 3 mth old and a newborn. I cant even sit and read a magazine. When they go to bed at night I pass out too.

It's available as an audiobook. I'd assume the ginger sauce has sugar in it.
