Default This Guy Got SBD Wrong...

Hi Beachers,

I was reading one of my favorite blogs today, at Healthy Eats, and I discovered that they'd posted a review of the SBD. Overall, it was a pretty good review that touched on the high points and low points that most people already know about. However, one thing stuck out like a sore thumb: the reviewer stated that Phase 1 doesn't allow for any fruits OR vegetables! Ack, no! Fruits, yes, but veggies, no! I don't know where he got that, but I left a comment to set him straight. I'd hate to think that someone might be turned off from doing a diet that works for so many, because of an erroneous review. Hopefully it will be fixed!

Here's the original article - what do you guys think?

I see a lot of erroneous reviews of SBD that seem to think it is a very low carb diet.

Unless he is talking about "south beach diet supercharged" I've never heard of that book, is it different?

I don't know about the Supercharged book, either. But even so, the review purports to be about the regular old SBD, and Supercharged is only mentioned once in the review. Even if Supercharged does restrict veggies, it seems a bit disingenuous to call it a review of the SBD if in reality it's a review of a modified version of the SBD! Maybe they need two reviews - one for supercharged and one for regular SBD?

Thanks, Jenny for posting the article. You asked what I think-I think the reviewer needs to read the book! Haha.

South Beach Supercharged is the same South Beach eating principles it just adds in exercise (hence the supercharged). It's also a newer book so has some new recipes and incorporates a few things they've learned the last couple of years.

Wow, he really doesn't understand SB. Must not have read the book at all. I left a comment on the site for the reviewer too.

A lot of people seem to be under the impression that veggies aren't allowed on SB. This girl at work told me I was killing myself by not eating veggies. I told her I ate them, and she said I was doing the diet wrong.

Yeah, that's why I am following what the book says.

There are more misconceptions about SBD than there are any other diet. It frustrates me so much.....
HAVE YOU READ THE BOOK?? :-)

I wish I had a glass of wine for every time I've said that! Matter of fact, I think I have.
