Default "Fried" Green Beans with Wasabi Dip

I was so excited tonight! I've been craving TGI Friday's Fried Green Beans (which, coincidentally, I have not had in over a year) and tried a recipe of my own. It's a keeper!

Ingredients
1 bag pre-cut and washed green beans
1 T olive oil
MRs. Dash (I used the onion and herb blend)

Dip1 T mayo
1 teaspoon of reduced sugar ketchup
1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar
wasabi to taste
S&P to taste

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Combine green beans, olive oil and Mrs Dash and spread on a cookie sheet. Cook in the oven for 10 minutes, flip and cook another 10 until dark brown in some areas. The darker they are they crispier (and also slightly bitter) they are. They also shrink up big time.

Combine the ingredients for the dip and stir together. I had some leftover wasabi packets from DW's sushi. I like spice so I added three.

I ate all the green beans and half the sauce. They were yummy! And totally curbed the craving.

Green beans roasted with OO until crunchy are a total staple for me! I don't know about bitter. They get sweet to me, it's almost like having veggie candy.

I tried these this weekend and I have a question. My green beans were frozen green beans. Do you thaw them first and then blot? Although they were tasty, they didn't get as crispy as I would like. I will definately make them again, but just wanted to check on the thawing thing.

I don't know. I hate it, but I never have the best luck with frozen veggies for roasting or even for stirfries. Fair, but not great. At the very least, I find they need to be thawed and dried. The water is not good for either roasting or stirfrying.

Yes, thaw them out and pat them dry. Olive oil won't stick to water and oven roasting them is supposed to dry them out so, yes, try thawing!

I used tabasco instead of the wasabi in the sauce, but it still tasted great. I don't think that I've ever eaten so many green beans. Delicious. Thanks for the recipe, jenne!

Sad...mine have been in the oven for almost 40 minutes and they are still not browning/crispy. I did pat them dry, even though they were fresh. Perhaps I used a bit too much OO? I just guessed a Tbls. Ahh well, I will simply wait and hope they come out...I'm hungry! A snack shouldn't be so time consuming, I'm ready to eat dinner, haha. They smell good though...

Were the green beans spread out in a single layer? Sometimes that will cause them not to come out crispy.

I have done these twice - both times with frozen green beans thawed and dried off. Although they tasted good, they did not get crispy either time. Loved the Wasabi dip. Next time I'm gonna try them in a skillet instead of the oven.

I have a hard time with the frozen ones. I find they don't work as well.

Chelby taught me how to roast green beans from frozen and I just added time to make them fries. I used the skinny green beans, I do NOT thaw or rinse, I add EVOO and salt/pepper. Put on pan in 400 degree oven until done. For me I did about a half hour to get to desired browness.

Also, when I roast fresh green beans, fried or just cooked until tender, I follow a recipe that says 450 degrees and a preheated pan. I think the preheating of the pan (ideally 10 minutes but often I do less) helps get the browning going.

My Costco has had fresh green beans for a couple weeks now. I am eating tons!

Yes, they are Ph 1 friendly. If you look at the headers, these are all items listed in the Ph 1 snack category.
