I can't find the forum I found this recipe on but OMG is it good. Mu husband even LOVED it.
Take 1 tbs Olive oil and heat in a pan.
Take 1 or 2 or 3 string cheese sticks and put in pan.
DON'T TOUCH THEM. Let them start to melt and brown on the bottom.
Once they are melted all the way too the top, sprinkle them with garlic powder.
Slide them out of the pan and let cool for a minute to firm/harden.
They taste PHENOMENAL. Even my hubby who HATES cheese loved these. Once we can make whole wheat spags, we will use these as a garlic bread replacement.
Great substitute for the garlic bread when we do spaghetti!! I have it on the menu for next week since my DD requested it. They'll be totally surprised when I serve the "garlic bread".
Thanks so much for sharing this... I haven't been on 3FC in months, as I went off my calorie-counting, exercising regimen... I wasn't losing much and was getting burnt out.
My boyfriend's doctor told him to go on SBD and we started it together; we are almost done with Phase 1 but I'm going a bit nutty trying to find snacks I like. This was DELICIOUS. I think we had the heat a bit high though, they were a teeny bit too brown on the bottom... practice makes perfect!
This sounds great! Thanks so much for posting this. What an awesome side dish to go along with spaghetti made with spaghetti squash instead of noodles.
Well I made this the other night using the lite string cheese at 50 cals a slice. I allowed myself 2 with the no sugar added spaghetti sauce, spaghetti squash and a side salad. This was a great meal!! I didn't miss the garlic bread at all.
Another great cheese snack I make is cheese crackers. Melt about an ounce or so of cheddar cheese in the microwave on parchment paper until the cheese hardens. I start checking at about 30 seconds and take it out when it just starts to brown. Let cool slightly and then break into pieces taste a lot like cheezit crackers. Also I sometimes break them up and throw in a salad as a crouton replacement.
I made these and they were great...but I want to stress that this must be done in a non-stick pan!!! Otherwise, the cheese is almost impossible to get out of the pan.
