Default Biggest Loser-type Ranch?

Is there not any Biggest Loser-type ranch out there with a similar program to the show? I mean, I know there is one in Utah but it's $5600/month!! And Green Mountainhttp://www.fitwoman.com/ is $10,000/mo.

I really wish there was affordable program/resort where I could go for 3 months.

Anyone know of a place? : )

Oh and the other thing is...the BIggest Loser resort in Utah is for people of any fitness level. I don't want to work out with super fit people who are actually choosing to vacation at a weight loss place. Ugh.

I considered Duke's Residential program, http://www.dukehealth.org/services/diet_and_fitness/. It would have cost less than surgery, $7,525 for their 4 week program. I feel blessed that I am doing this without spending a fortune. It puts the expense of Walk Away the Pounds dvds into prospective!

Default Expense

I wonder exactly what these places do to charge that kind of money.

Has anyone gone and if so, was it worth it to you? Can you share any of what you learned that might be helpful?

Good luck to all of us struggling with weight loss.

Thanks,
Sheridan

I don't think insurance should cover a trip to a weight loss ranch. You can lose weight at home. How are you going to manage when you leave the ranch if they have prepared all your meals?

How much would you be willing to pay?

I mean, think about it...they are giving you hotel-style room and board, all meals, and a full day of exercise programs and training. Plus education from experts and etc. So it is going to be expensive. The BL camp is actually cheaper than a lot of others in the industry (Camp La Jolla, etc).

These days any decent hotel room is going to cost you near $100/night. You're talking about staying for a month, that's $3100 right there. And that's bare bones, just a room. Add on all the services they're providing you, I think the price sounds about right.

Default I wonder about this

If insurance would cover weight management and also throw in a weekly massage, I think the overall healthcare costs would decrease dramatically. I might be wrong but it would be worth a trial test in my opinion.

Decreasing stress and weight would be a big winner overall and certainly money better spent than if fighting two wars. (No I am not going to go off in that direction) There could at the very least be some tax breaks for money spent in trying to get healthy.

Good luck to all

LOL--you could always come to my house. I will charge 1/2 what the Utah people do!

Sheridan...right on! Seriously, my husband and I have talked about the same thing.

Also, I think if it were that easy to do this at home (at least starting out), then I would be wearing size 12 jeans right now. I would love a jump start and ,yes, the BL Resort is way more affordable than other options.

I was just curious if anyone could recommend other places. : )

im planning on going one day when im about half way through my weight loss. for me, its like a vacation from planning my meals and a chance to accelerate my weight loss and remotivate myself. i can only go for 1 week at a time, though, so am considering buying a couple weeks up front so i can return for the second week at a later date.
