I've been absent the past few days because my super sweet doggy, who is 14 years old(I'm 20, so she's been around almost all my life) has been losing her battle with lymphoma. She can't walk on her own anymore, has incontinence problems, and is breathing very heavily. My dad(who is a vet) decided that it is time to put her to sleep because she is suffering, so tomorrow evening the vet is coming over to put her to sleep(my dad doesn't want to do it). Needless to say, this is very upsetting to me and I am trying not to let it impede my weight loss efforts. Pets are just important to me as any member of my family and it is very upsetting to me . I've just been cuddling with her for as long as possible because she really is the sweetest dog.

Pets are like a part of the family, and especially if they've been around a long time, losing them can be devastating.
I wish you the best in coping with your loss.
The best thing you can do is what you're doing. Be with her, and make her last day a good one.

I'm so sorry. We just lost our sweet Max in November so I understand how you're feeling. Try to be kind to yourself in the next few days. No medicating with food, but hot baths and warm cups of tea can sometimes help us feel a little better.
I am so sorry!!! I just went throught this with my 15 1/2 year old maltese, Max, 3 months ago... it is truly hearbreaking. You know that you're doing the right thing for her and you'll have all of the good memories.
Give yourself the time to mourn, even now as I'm typing this, I'm crying... it is a very hard thing to deal with...
so sorry to hear this. We lost our 12 year old Westie a couple of years ago and now have a 17 year old Cairn Terrier that I know will not be here much longer. It is very heartbreaking to lose a pet. They are like family. I just wanted to send you a big hug and let you know I know how you feel.
It truly is devastating but sometimes keeping a pet going when they are definitely ill is selfish. I've been there many times. If you possibly can do it, I hope you and your Dad can be with your darling as he passes over.

I'm so sorry, that is so hard. I had to put my dog of 14 years down a few months ago, it was the worst feeling I had ever felt. They are just so sweet, those dogs, with their unconditional love, and the way they look at you with those eyes!
When it happened for me, I was worried I would binge--I stayed kinda on auto pilot until the weekend, I ate well, etc, but by Friday (she was put down on a Monday night), I couldn't hold it in anymore and I binged. I honestly just didn't care, I wanted to be numb, and I was. Then I picked myself up the next day and eat healthy. What I'm saying is, do your best not to be derailed by this foodwise, but if you are, pick yourself back up afterwards, and you'll be fine.
I'm so sorry to hear that, when I was 17 my cat that I'd had for 15 years (since I was just 2) passed. It's really crushing and it truly does feel like losing a very close member of your family. Take comfort in knowing that your beloved doggy lived a LONG life. This is something that helped me cope with the loss of my kitty. It makes it slightly less tragic when they are taken from us at an elderly age. Maybe? Anyway, it'll get better. I promise.
BTW- Don't let this derail your weight loss efforts. If you want your weight loss to be permanent, you'll have to accept that, throughout your life, you will encounter hardships. You must be able to get through them without using food as a crutch. I know that you can do it.
