Default Starbucks calorie count....

Wow, some of their drinks have 500 calories! That's insane. I wish there was a law that would make these corporations post the actual calories of their foods and beverages. Holy smokes.

I know, drinks can be so high calorie! Just look at Jamba Juice...sure, healthy-ish ingredients, but wow, what a calorie load!

I try not to drink my calories. At Starbucks, I get an Americano with some sugar free vanilla syrup. Mmmm.

Yeah, some of those coffee drinks can be pretty bad. I usually stick with plan coffee with a splash of skim milk (which they never have out, you have to ask for it). If I'm in the mood to splurge, I'll get a skim-milk latte. I've lost my taste for the sweetened drinks. I always get a peppermint mocha during Christmas time, because they're sooooo delicious. This year though, I bought it (I allowed myself a special treat, and I got it with skim milk), and I didn't even finish it. It was nice for a taste, but was WAY to sweet for my tastebuds to drink the whole thing!

Yikes. I try not to drink my calories too, especially with as restrictive a calorie counter I am.

I too wish there was a law where they had to post them. We had gift certificates to Bravo and my husband and searched and searched for nutrition information before we went. Nothing. We even asked once we got there and they said they're working on it. Ha!

Starbucks voluntarily posts their nutritional information online for all beverages AND pastries (I've also seen leaflets in the stores with nutritional data). Some of their offerings are way too high for me, but I consider Starbucks one of the "good guys" for making it easy to make informed decisions.

If you think the calorie counts are ridiculous at Starbucks, check out some of the drinks at Jamba Juice or the milkshakes at Dairy Queen/Baskin Robbins! How about 1200 calories for a drink?

I got a drink at Caribou Coffee this holiday season - white chocolate peppermint I believe? It had 800ish calories. They melt mini chocolate chips in their chocolate drinks now...

You know my favorite Starbucks drinks are some of the better choices.

I LOVE their Doubleshot Lights. They're 70 calories, 4 g of fat, and made with splenda.

They also have new instant coffee called Starbucks Via that is really good.

Go for their Light Frappuccinos. The Mocha one is 140 calories and 1 g of fat and in my opinion better and easier to drink through a straw.

Yes, the Light Frappuccinos (coffee is my favourite) are really good, and something I can occasionally work into my calorie budget. I usually another fan of the Americano/SF vanilla syrup combo, but as an occasional treat, the Light Frappuccinos are great. I do wish they had more SF flavours, though.

I had this issue with Outback, so I emailed corporate and they sent me the partial list they had.

Yep.

Large (Venti) Starbucks Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha made with 2% milk: 640 calories, 21g fat.

Large Eggnog Latte made with 2% milk: 610 calories, 27g fat.

Large Signature Hot Chocolate made with SKIM milk: 600 cal, 23g fat.

But ya know, last year they had a special Salted Caramel hot chocolate, and if you got that, made with whole milk, it was 790 calories and 40g of fat.

That's a LOT OF FAT! I do like an occasional Starbucks but I get a Tall (small) nonfat half-sweet with no whipped cream... about 150-175 cal.

I am laughing because I think I am the only person who goes to Starbucks and gets *gasp* coffee. They really are marketing geniuses to have figured out a way to get us to pay so much for a coffee creation.

I have them add a little skim milk to whatever the coffee of the day is and $1.85 later I have a very low calorie, satisfying cup of coffee. My Starbucks has oatmeal available also. When I need a breakfast on the run, I get a cup of coffee and the oatmeal.

I try to think of the other drinks as a dessert. They really are. I think I could have a piece of angel food cake with sugar free whipped cream and sliced strawberries and still have less calories than a tall peppermint latte. Sooo not worth it IMO.

Yeah, I was a "venti hot chocolate" person for a long time, at least once a week. I don't know if back then I would have cared that I was drinking 500 calories, but looking back on it, I can see I wasn't doing myself any favors. The hot chocolate (with cream and whole milk by the way) was on top of the breakfast from Burger King and sometimes Sonic.

When I do the math, I easily would eat about 1,200 calories for breakfast. It's almost embarrassing, but what's more troubling is that knowing how much I was eating probably wouldn't have stopped me back then anyway. I would have shrugged and kept going.

That in itself tells me how far I've come in nine months.

My fav starbucks drink is a venti skinny iced cinnamon dulce latte. 110 cal that I don't mind spending once in awhile b/c it is like a buttery cinnamon dessert!

I'm a tall, extra hot, sugar-free, skim-milk vanilla latte type of girl. 2 points, plus the milk is good for me.

I used to be a venti, two (or three) extra shots of espresso, mocha frappachino type of girl. That was more calories (not to mention money) than I could ever drink again

When I don't have time to make my own French press coffee or just want a taste of chocolate, I get a Venti Non-fat No Whip Caffe Moca for:

Cals:280 Fat:3g Cholest:10mg Sodium:170mg Carbs:53g Sugars:41g Fiber:2g Protein:17g

Oh, and $4.27!!!
